Looking for some advice reference my adv seats. I find them seriously uncomfortable and have been looking as to what i can do with them, i see alot of people are going for gel inserts and was wondering if they were worth the money and if so where is the best place i can get them sorted or is there any alternatives with the exception of sticking a cushion under my backside ?

Cheers in advance folks,

Salty :bounce1

iam going to get gel pads fitted to my gsa on saturday by tony archer from huddersfield £60 per seat. i had gel seat on my blackbird and it was brilliant that is why i am having them on my four month old gsa. they work!!:thumb

I had a gell seat done on my Vtec, waste of money. All gell does is cut down secondary vibration. I went the expensive route and bought a Sargent for my GS. It was the best single item I purchased for it.

Try an airhawk, i did and its great for longer jorneys

alot cheaper than a sgt seat or similar but still £120, but then you can take it from bike to bike.

you can also tailor it to how firm/ soft you want it by blowing it up or letting more air out.

def worth looking at before thee gel seats etc and you can send it back if you dont like it.

Disagree,I have a Sargent and thought it was a big improvement over standard but prefer my Tony Archer-ised standard seat now,we're all different :nenau

Tried one briefly, felt like I was floating on a lilo, didn't like it myself but some folks do.

I got one of these shipped in from Oz...

Used it on my 12,000 mile usa trip - worked a treat...

No comment/no direct experience

Had a Wunderlich seat once upon a time too, nice but not as good as the Sargent, just my 0.02c

Salty, there is no easy answer, try out seats on other peoples bikes if you can before you part with your hard earned ;)

Tony for me too!

Yep another T Archer fan here!, best £60 ever re gel pad. Note* he did also widen my 07 1200 Adv seat at the front/sides by 10mm each.

But the best thing I ever did? was put the front seat setting on high and the back setting on low, stops you been pushed forward:D worked for me:thumb2

Another vote for Sargent here!

My Adventure seat used to inflict serious pain on my poor old botty after an hour or two. I can now ride literally all day in comfort.

Not cheap admittedly - but if you do manage to pick up one second hand and look after it you won't lose much on it.

Best seat in the world is a Renazco.

Hand made by James Renazco and built to the individual incorporating details such as weight/inside leg size/type of riding etc.

Got one on my SE950 and did over 2000 miles to GOTC 09 in 6 days without a single ache.

But not sure he has made any for barges like GS12s

Heard that before, however due to the snow not managed to try the seat position as of yet but it is on the radar !!!

I used an Airhawk for thousands of miles on assorted bikes, with great results.

But the Sargent seat on my 06 GSA was a great investment, I must say.

Somewhere or other* I have the original seat, which I may dispatch to Taffyland, if only to see what the result is. The general opinion seems to be that Mr Archer is a good egg so it may be worth a punt.....

*Actually, Brian Maslen has it, or at least he did. Probably flogged it :D

Don't send it here someone will sell it.............
Tony Archer is in Huddersfield ;)

Ok

I have tried a number of seats but finally settled on Sargent front and rears.

Airhawk, - had one on a Fazer 1000 and it was great but just didnt get on with it on the GSA. Tried all different Air levels and just didnt get on with it

Turatec comfort seats - looked great and big n seemed loads of padding but still nipped my spine/arse. Also made seat height taller

Sargent Seat. - stuck en on and forgot all about them, really supportive, seem to lower seat height and you sit more in the bike, and really comfortable for all day

Standard. Not too bad but just not good enough for me for all day riding

I had a Sargent seat on my VFR800 and it was all day comfy - one of the best buys I've ever made, especially as I bought it s/h and sold it for the same price two years later
