Hi all, only recently joined the site so hope this is not listed elsewhere (I did search) Have recently purchased a 1200gs, it came with a BMW Gemel alarm but no instructions, both buttons make the indicators flash but i can not seem to make the alarm go off:blast can anyone tell me the brief operating instuctions, many thanks.

Hi I had the same problem with mine, the bloody thing would go of when your washing the bike, or just looking at it wrong.
The first, and I thought logical step, was to get the book out, read and follow the destructions, bloody useless. It was like trying to unravel spagette.
The next thing was back to the dealer, and get the rep who flogged me Hitlers pride and joy to have a go. His attempts were as good as mine.
He got a mech' out of the garage, this guy was german born and bread. He said that over the years he had followed the book written in English with no sucess at all. Suspecting that something was getting lost in the translation, he got the German version, it had the same result. No joy
He said the only way was take it into the garage plug it into the computer and I could pick all my settings.
Victory at last.
The alarm has 2 settings one normal (which is what you have now) and a factory setting. This means you press the lefthand button 2 times when you want to set the alarm to its active mode, and you press the right hand button 1 time to de-activate. Off-course this means that you allways have to remember to set the alarm when you park up, but the bonus is your in charge not the bloody machine.
At the same time I changed a number of other settings i.e the amount of days the alarm stays activated ect, this is installed to save the battery when the bike is left a long time,
The job was complete in 5 mins and they did not charge me a penny.
My neighbors think its great and are just starting to say good morning again.
Pete.

Hi pete thanks for that but it still is not working, first press gives two silent flashes on the indicators, second press three flashes with three bleeps, but you can then move the bike with no alarm sounding, right hand button single flash:blast

Left hand button sets the alarm on. Press it for the second time and you de-activate the motion sensors.

Press the right hand button to deactivate the alarm. Not necessarily needed, when you turn the key n the ignition it senses the clever chip think in the key an deactivates the alarm ( so long as the kill switch is in the run position :augie )

The alarm can be programmed to auto set or only set when you press the left button - remember, once only to have the motion sensors active. Twice if you want to de-activate the sensors.

Found this thread that explains how to program it for you ..

There have been recent threads on the alarm, one even included a link to an online copy of the manual. Try searching again, it is out there :)
