OK, so after getting the discs on my 2002 1150GS Adventure checked I definitely have warped front discs. Now the choice is Genuine repacements at £136 each or aftermarket from Motobins at £115 each or Cast Iron from Motoworks at £99 each (plus the hassle of sending mine in return). Recommendations anyone?

As a matter of (little) interest I replaced my original spoked wheels on my bike with alloys about 3 months ago. It was a straight swap. Could this have had anything to do with them warping - the bike now has 54000 miles on it and I don't do a lot of heavy braking. However the bike has done 31000 miles since the last MOT.

Thanks in advance, Paul

another pikey option is http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/

I emailed them for a quote and they replied £75 each. No details of maker or material. Worth giving them a bell to find out what they are as I never got around to it as mine went through the MOT okay last month.

At 54,000 they might be just worn out, mine were starting to pulse because of uneven wear at 52,000 (there was only .5mm wear allowed on the discs)

These are my old ones, 5mm thick when new, the thinnest part of the disc measured 4.51mm: pretty much worn out

I went for Grimeca discs from Motobins and they have been fine so far, saved around £100

Personally I can’t recommend cast iron or steel discs, they go rusty, and in the rain spray the front of the bike with rusty water.
Certainly with cast iron discs, wet brake pads can corrode there outline in to the discs by a measurable amount and in time ruin them. (Cost me two sets of discs before I wised up to that one)

I believe both Stealth and EBC are steel. Look on the Products page of MCN, Bikemart for details (then buy Stainless Steel)

Oh, and don't forget the new pads!

Don't forget that the Mbw ones have a 2 year guarantee with them.I put genuine ones on mine, which warped after a while.New ones again thankyou very much.

Worth thinking about :thumb
