Getting Worried

At least four or five people on this thread alone have Sid they've got issues, some of which are months long!
Are you not reading those bits of the thread ? :nenau

Yes I am, but there was mention of lots of people leaving their bikes with the dealers for weeks on end. In this thread, there have been two.:rob

You do the reliability figures could if be something like out of 7 or so owners on this Thread who have a WC 4 or 5 have issues with major components like clutch and gearbox, not to mention further issues. 2 of the 4 or 5 have been or are still without their new bikes for weeks on end .

Feck that's shit in anyone's book surely !

Ok, you're right, its a shit bike, it should be withdrawn from sale, and BMW should start building 1100's and 1150's again, because they're so reliable aren't they.:blagblah:aidan

Where the hell are you getting your figures from man :eek

The WC is a great bike but its from the K bike dynasty, why the fk didn't they put in a sweet changing gearbox?
I came from a perfect 3 years on a 2010 GSA. A hard act to follow. I still like the bike but not passionate like the GSA

I think you'll find the negative stuff is by several folk who DO own them! I'm just commenting on their woes of ownership and saying I'd be pissed off laying out 15k for an epic reliability fail ! Seems reasonable to me ? :nenau

Well I own one and mines a peach. Picked it up on the 2nd March and no problems so far, gearbox is fine, brake pads look ok, no switch gear problems nor loose bolts. No bugs, gremlins or anything else to report.

It's a great bike and I love it.

So, Captain Black... Yes, there are a couple on here that have some issues but for the number that have been sold it's a very small percentage or BM would have done a major recall and we haven't had any re-calls have we...:nenau

So, I think you are safe to buy one.........!

It's obvious some bikes appear to have issues, and I do feel sorry for the owners as its a PITA.

However mine is great and I'm enjoying every minute on it

Performance continues to impress, handlings eminently flickable, ride is comfy, wind protection -with bigger screen- nearly as good as an RT , gearbox clunk to first all but gone and no issues with rest of box, no switchgear issues (tho prefer ye olde indicator buttons) ,LED light ridiculously good.......

On any forum you'll always here more about the problems and fixes, but I've noticed many people here also posting done x000 miles on this trip or other with no issues.

Having had a 4 GS models I think this is the best one by far.

Recalls for software and oil lube issues.

To many threads on here do mention faults and concerns about these bikes.

To much techno and glitches etc for me to ever be interested in this model me thinks. Reliability is a massive thing for me. Being great while its working isn't gonna make me dip 15k into one. I'll stick to my older models :D

Enjoy your WC's hope they sort the problems out quickly. :thumb

My take on the opinions so far...

I make that 16 new WC's, 6 with problems, i.e. 37.5% problem rate

Me , also in the no issues section, going in for its 6000 service on Tuesday.. will see if there is any updates at the dealer.:nenau

Am picking up a new LC in five weeks, trading my 1200R, getting a bit worried about some of the negative comments on here.Have had the 1100,1150 and 1200 with no major problems but there does seem to be a pattern evolving with unhappy owners, anyone got any positive comments ?

Hello mate,
picked mine up a couple of weeks ago from Rainbow, had a 2005 GS for 8 years, loved it, my LC love it. I have had no problems with mine at all.

I think you need to check the non owners on that list:augie

I bought my first GS1200 in 2004 I later found this site, had I read the comments about the then new 1200 I would never have bought one at all and would have missed out on years of great biking times. I now own a WC which is now my 5th GS, I love the bike and have had no issues at all I am part of the silent majority :thumby:

There's a flaw in your table I'm an owner of 2 months :D

Lies. Damn Lies. And statistics :thumb2 Did you know 84% of all statistics are made up? :rob

NuttyGSerrrr and rattley...:thumb

Um table is based on what's been said (and MY interpretation of it)...where do you state you own one (in this thread) exactly?

I own one and no problems! Is an issue a problem, because I don't think there is a bike produced that doesn't have an issue of some kind for some types.
I was out for a ride today , up the pass , freezing day 9 degrees, actually english summer I suppose , but I just think this bike is fantastic. I just seem to keep enjoying it more and more each ride. This is a very good first production model in my op. Yes it will get better , but hey I'll enjoy this until better gets me buying the next incarnation, I'm not missing out waiting for perfect like some on this board !
