Givi A330 arrives from DK last week - great service, well within the 10 days promised for restocking. Thanks Cieran.
It's now fitted and has made a difference to the wind in my face but I am finding buffeting on the top & back of my helmet at 60+mph. I'm 5'11" and use a standard Sargent seat on the standard setting. I've tried most screen settings with little difference, reading through the thread I think I need to take the following action: Get & fit tobinators to give more adjustment (i.e. lay the screen back a bit further), fit winglets. If that fails ... start again! So, to those of you who have solved the problem - does this sound the right course of action?
Hiya Teejayef
I would try the winglets first, I posted earlier that I took the winglets off just to see what the screen was doing.... I put the wings back on as soon as I got home. They make a HUGE difference! Then try the Tobs.
I put Tobs on my setup just to see, and I found they did make it better but not by the same degree as the wings. I found the screen and the wings almost got it, the Tobs finished the job for me....
Definitely lay the screen back as far as you can, then mess around with the height of the top screen. Start low and try keep it as low as you can. For the two screens to work properly I think they need to collect as much air as possible, then the difference in the wind speed (the wind coming underneath is moving faster than the wind going over the top) smooths the air out, "Laminar Effect" I think is what is happening here. I am no aerodynamic or physics guy..... just read a lot about this before I spent my hard earned.
Once this was sorted for me, I found the difference in air pressure behind the screen and the air coming around and over the screen was too great. The screen and the wings worked too well! So I tried out the Tobs, to get a bit more air behind the screen which lowered the difference in air pressure and creates less buffeting.
Blah blah blah
Hope this helps, a little. Let us know how you get on.
Cheers
Pete
