Givi Airflow Screen review

The Givi Airflow everytime

I have followed this post from the start, and yes I bought the Givi Screen. Just fitted it without and 'TOBS'. The only addition I have is the winglets. In the past two weeks whilst out training I have tried 3 different Bmw r1200gs's, all fitted with the standard screen, they were 07, and 57 plated machines. Everytime I could not wait to get back on my BMW. I did not miss the noise, wind and above all the ability to have my visor up..... Looks like I converted the riders of the other BM's

Regards

Nigel

I was one of the riders with Advanced Biker over the weekend and I was amazed how much difference the screen made.
I'm not very experienced with bikes and modifications which is why I like to get info from people on this site.
I think I will be a convert to the screen now I've seen and used it.
Once I've got a few quid together it's on the phone to DK and place my order.:thumb2

Together with my standard screen and low seat it's no wonder Nigel was glad to be back on his own bike !!

Agree with webwalker about the vary screen things. I took the tons off an now use the varios as I only needed a smallish gap bow the screen and the screen seems more solid now, less shakin.

Good Man Nigel, you make me proud!!

Ps A little update on my own bike. I chopped in my old Caponord for a superb R1150 GS. What a machine! I will never look back. (Untill the right R1200 GS rolls into the showroom!)

Keep up the good work!

Thanks :clap

Just a quick note to say thanks to Cieran. Ordered the screen from him yesterday and arrived this morning and is now on the bike.

I will post my thoughts when I have put it through a good test run. :beerjug:

No problem at all, thats what im here for!! As for the looks I do think they look beter with the AF330 on, the quirky design fits the look of the bike perfectly. Its a perfect balance of form AND function just like the bike itself!!

Thanks once again for all your support

Have fitted both screen (AF) and winglets, and my machine has been transformed, no more buffeting. I would like to thank Cieran for his help over some difficulties and very promp service, as well as NN's for their excellent service as well.

Cheers to one and all.

One Fitted

After following this thread i eventually went and bought one of these screens. Fitting instructions absolute sh**e !! took some working out at times especially remembering to remove the front 2 rubber gromits at the front of the screen, bastards !
All in All not too bad a job to do and now looking foward to trying it out. Does anyone have any recommendations for height settings, i'am 5'11 tall. I will also be looking to fit some winglets, which are the better NN or BMW or any other make recommended ?

I gotBMW ones, they just fit. Can't say anything about the other ones....

Oh yeah...

I've been following the threads on screens on the forum for a while & eventually put my hard earned cash behind my decision i:nodn
I ordered the Givi Airflow from the chaps at DK Motorcycles :thumb2, it arrived the next working day :)
Now fitted to bike (R1200GS 06) & what a difference :clap even with the top screen it's lowest setting.
With the upper screen in the unlocked position I can move it up or down, while riding, to fine tune my riding experience.
No more flexing, as with the standard screen, with the ensuing turbulence & buffeting. Just clean smooth air. Brilliant.
6'3" tall, 34 inside leg, seat in high position. NN winglets. Tobinators (lowest notch). Screeen 2 notches down on side adjusters.
Well chuffed :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

My Givi Airflow arrived today and was fitted in less time than it took to drink the cup of coffee which I made to accompany the job. The instructions seemed perfectly fine to me, provided you could find the English bits!!

It's chucking it down right now, though, so I've not bothered to go out for a test ride yet.

Since it was a nice sunny morning, I’ve just spent an hour and a half going 5 miles each way up and down the A50 between Chellaston & Castle Donnington at 90ish – all in the name of science, you understand, adjusting the new screen.

First impressions, sat on the bike, are that there is a lot of screen – it looks very bulky, but the extra bracing struts do mean that it vibrates less.

I’m 5’10ish and I have the seat set high at the front & low at the back. For the screen, I tried lots of combinations and ended up setting the main screen one notch up from the lowest position and the top screen about an inch and a quarter above its lowest setting – much higher than that and it was intruding into my sightlines and I just found that annoying.

It’s an amazing difference, there is a massive reduction in wind noise cruising at 90ish – I am really impressed. However, the engine now sounds like a bag of spanners when cruising, which it never did before, although to be fair with the wind noise you couldn’t hear it anyway at that speed. I guess (hope?) it’s normal!

Strangely, it is consistently quieter and smoother eastbound than westbound, but I guess that’s to do with the way the wind was blowing across the Trent this morning.

I’ve a motorway run up to Liverpool tomorrow morning (for the boat to the Isle of Man – Manx Grand Prix next week), so that will give the screen a good test.

Givi Screen

I have a Givi airflow screen fitted as advanced biker had one, and WOW cannot believe the difference it makes, good bit of kit well made and it WORKS!!!:ChrisKelly

af330 solves all problems

Hi All,

I have had horrendous problems with turbulence, wind blast and noise and now it's all solved, even the tobinators only helped a little.
I basically listened to everyone on the forum and did the following :

Added an Af330 with tobinators
Added Nippy Norman winglets

The results are astounding, straight up to 100 with no noise, wind, buffeting!
I can ride at 85+ with the visor open!
I'm not going deaf!

For the details, the tobinators are set on the second indent from the bottom.
The lower screen is set on the 3rd setting from bottom, and the top screen at the mid-way point.

I found the instructions to be useless, my advice would be :
Notice that you need the lower mounts from the original screen
Follow the instructions backwards, make sure the lower part of the bracket assembly is correct before bolting up the top.
The rubber grommet in the front of the main screen has to go through the hole, so that it is equi-distant either side of the hole - the instructions make it look as though it just sits on one surface.

If I could figure out how to attach pictures, I would. . .:D

Cheers,
Colin

First bimble out this evening with the AF330, courtesy of Wyrebiker...

Firstly, it looks feckin hideous in my mind... I guess its like when a minging bird puts on an orrible old jumper though.. She's still minging whatever she's wearing, but at least now its comfortable...

Performance wise though, I am very impressed. In fact its quite a bit weird not having to put your visor down... Lose the impression of speed completely.. Haven't tested over the speed limit yet, but I'm expecting very good results...

Best 60 quid I've ever spent !! :augie:augie:augie:augie:augie

Go get yourself one... It might make the minging bird a bit uglier, but underneath them orrible clothes she's still get crackin norks !!:thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb
