giving up (again) roll up's

Nicotine leaves the body within 72 hours. Most goes within a few hours, that's why you don't wake up in the middle of the night gasping for a fag.

Biggest problem with giving up is not nicotine ... it's habits.

I used to light up every time I answered the phone, every time I was waiting for a download to complete on computer, etc.

Try to work out your habits and try first to break them. It worked for me. I've been off them since Feb 2007.

Hopefully encouragement and support are of some help...

In which case, GO FOR IT !
:comfort
Will-power is a great strength so best of luck in the giving-up !!!

Cheers guys, just googled it, 72 hours which is when the cravings really start and then start to decline...

Quit smoking in 1998 for ten years and then stupidly started again smoking shishas in Egypt in 2008...

I'd say I have a good chance of success, stopped last year for two months and then started again in India, you can see a pattern here maybe:augie... Anyway with the economy as it is we might not be going anywhere this year, so pattern broken:blast

Richie You Already MAde a mistake my friend

You Are Not "Giving Up!"

You are "Stopping Smoking!" For you Your Health and Your Family!

Alan Carr Easyway to stop smoking got me stopped 17th Nov 2004

BUT I started again about 2 / 3 weeks ago

I stopped again last thursday as a promise to a lady friend and strangely enough no "real" cravings just at Kells at the weekend while the party was on

But I did It

It's a Nice feeling to say when you are offered a smoke to say "No Thanks I don't Smoke!"

Good Luck You WILL Do It!

Jay

Hey Richie

Maybe another idea/approach....

Set youself a fitness target: run 10km/cycle 20km in 40 minutes, a specific time for up-and-down a particular hill/sandune 5 times etc etc.......that way, you'll have a counter-habit to off-set against the craving?

Richie, it is the cigarette which smokes, you are just the sucker!

I stopped in '84, and it was the best day's work I ever did.

Pack it in, stick with it, fookin shisha in Egyit, for fook sake....

Bin

Work out how much they cost you per week. Multiply that by 52 and see what kind if bike/new laptop/guitar/bike jacket etc that money will buy you.
Alternatively, pop into the emphysema ward and see how those people are doing. I quit after both my parents died within 18 months of each other from smoking related illnesses.

Tobacco companies are very bit as evil as big oil etc.

I used those Nicorette thingies when I stopped 4 years ago.
I did stick with the Nicorette's, at one a day, for 3 of those years though but that comes down to the habit thing as I had a Nicorette when I fired up the PC after dinner.
I have to say that considering I had smoked for a zillion years it was easier than I expected.
You've been through it before, it will be a breeze.
But good luck in case you need it.

Keep going mate, I'm sure roll ups are harder to quit. For me, rolling one was part of the ceremony too.

I took the cold turkey route in Jan this year, so far so good. I did have some gum for emergencies ( thought it better than a cigarette ) but have not used any. Just knowing they were there seemed to help.

Best of luck and hang on in there

Nick

Yep, for me too, just rolled a skinny Cutter's Choice with a coffee, it's only the first couple of drags that are pleasurable...time to give up...soon:thumb

Boiled sweets, accept no substitutes!!! Feck the patches and the gum.

We are with you, this is a team thing, so don't give up!!!!

Trebor extra strong mints were a big help to me. Only problem was I developed a 3 pack a day habit and needed 5 or 6 fillings at the end of it.:augie

I am on the same journey. Quit Sunday night too. Similar story to yours too. Quit for two years went on holiday started smoking again. Last year quit for 4 months went on holiday again, same result. Like yourself, no holidays this year. I am on the patchs and a little irate. Had road rage this morning with car driver. I have started walking 40 minutes every night, well two nights so far. Want to quit for good this time......
