giving up (again) roll up's

best of luck pal and my best wishes for your success
I recon it was the hardest thing Ive ever done = stopping smoking
I kept putting dosh I had saved to one side
Me and missis went to Spain for a week after a year :clap

Keep Going!

I reckon you have got the only weapon you need to do this.....you WANT to stop, if you don't want to, then no amount of patches, gum or hypnotherapy will work

I stopped smoking three and a half years ago now. I won't say I have given up because I still get the odd craving, but it is the idea of it rather than the actual taste that is appealing.

I reckon you are right to tackle it in stages, first 72 hours to get rid of the nicotine cravings and then the two week mark to break the cycle of habit. Once you make it past each stage it gets hugely easier to not light up. I reckon after two weeks you will start to find the smell really strong and off putting.

Good luck to you, just remember it is worth it both financially and more importantly for health reasons. You may not notice a difference at first but then you will do something that would have had you out of puff and you will sail through it, that's when the sense of achievement really hits you.

Oh yeah nearly forgot.......reward yourself for your achievements, regularly!

Having a shit day today. Went to the shop, turned around and went back to the office. Eating like a dog. Would love a drink too, but know that is the beginning of the end. However it will be worth it, a few more days and it should get easier.... Small things are annoying me so much.

Beating the cravings.

I am now at 8 weeks. Smoked for 30 years or so. I gave up a while back for 5 months and had one thinking that ...one wont do any harm....WRONG!

Anyway, now been off for 2 months. Chew gum for England, put on a small anount of weight but go to the gym 3 times a week and that keeps the worst in check.

in 10 months i am going to reward myself with a top of the range Rukka.

Grumpy moments are getting fewer, cravings aer getting fewer, my health must be getting better, and i dont smell as bad!

KEEP IT GOING.

Richie

Today better than yesterday, just been scuba diving with client and now off kayaking with son...

9hours to go till 72 from then on its all in the mind.... or lack of it:augie

Keep it up lads thanks for the wise words..

14 days is a bit long to wait for a brad pit, no?

Anyhow, keep yourself busy, and think of the kids, you do not want them to think smoking is ok because Dad does it...

Well done, I gave up 7 years ago, easier when I got a really bad cold and bought the most disgusting ciggies I could find, put me right off, I can tell you. Then smoked again when I was well, smoked too much so my chest hurt which frightened the bejeebers out of me and I've not smoked since. Good luck, it's dead easy, I've done it hundreds of times :augie

ok whats the latest?
(In Dublinese: Score, Bud? )

Day Five, no problems been to the bar and will go again, at the moment my mind is made up so there is not too much hassle. Things change though but hopefully this time I will last.

Must say (sad though it may sound) posting the thread has helped. I have told my smoking friends here I have stopped, but they would not be upset either way, whereas people here seem to be supporting...

The yellow has nearly already gone from my fingers, scuba diving helps with that a lot.
I am not waking up in the middle of the night to cough, but I am waking up, it's a side effect I read about but have no memory of suffering from before.

Cheers lads:clap

Well done, Richie. :thumb:clap:clap
I'm sure you, of all people, will notice the difference when under water.

Richie,
You are now an ex-smoker and don't let anyone talk you round. Kill if necessary, it will be worth it. Vitamin C (Rubex) and loads of fruit help to balance the Nicotine loss.

Would you like to raise a little cash for a charity by betting us that you will still be off them in 3 months time?
You pick the charity, I am in for 20 yoyos. OK, we are blackmailing you, so what!

Bin
