Going crazy - new GS or current GSA?

Have a few hours to make a decision on new 2013 GSA versus new 2013 GS (WC).

Love the power of the new GS but adore the wind protection, fuel size and just the sheer size of the GSA. It looks and feels like a much more substantial bike than the GS. But I like gadgets, love the active suspension, modes and overall modernity of the GS.

Real tough dilemma. Used my GSA for a windy wet 300 mile ride out on Saturday. It was fabulous not to fill up all day, bomb down the motorways in comfort and then spend 70 miles on twisty lanes. The GSA does everything brilliantly. My hesitation is also if the new GSA comes out in October (Intermot) and is launched March 2014, isn't a new 2013 GSA going to drop in value hugely and feel very old school? I'd have to keep it for a few years even if I did like the new WC GSA.

Don't know what to do. One minute GS and one minute GSA, I'm going crazy. Even asked my 9 year old daughter her opinion. She'd go for the GSA, saying its bigger and safer. She thinks GS stands for GoodSpeed. :bounce1

Any advice, apart from telling me to wait 9 months, is much appreciated.

Just been through the same dilemma.

LC is a great bike but after 4 test rides I couldn't love it. 20 min on a GSA and I was smitten. Good deals at the moment make it even more attractive.

Ride both back to back, then you'll know:rob

In a couple of years all the bugs will be sorted on the new bikes, look again then

Why only a few hours to decide?

Take some more test rides, dont rush into it there will be other deals wont there the bikes willstill be there next week..worst thing you can do is make a rushed decision.

put my 2012 GSA in for 6000 mile service today and was given a brand new 1200 LC demo for the day. What an awesome machine ......but I was happy to get my bike back. The wind protection is much better .....however I wait with baited breath to try the GSA LC when it comes !!:D

New LC the engine is awesome!

I did like the character of the LC engine, although not very GS like. Didn't have that quirky indefinable gruntinness of the air-cooled versions. But it did pull hard from 4k and liked to rev. Am trading in an RR so I do like power and revs and a nice engine.

The RR is no longer anything other than posing around, worrying about pot holes and police. I honestly think I'm faster A to B on a GS than on an RR. If that makes me a rubbish rider, so be it. Always enjoy the bark of the Akra when in Race mode. Literally awesome.

In conclusion, yes the LC motor is fab, but in a very different way to Air-cooled engines, which are fab in their own right.

If you're coming from an RR and like a bit more power and a sporty ride, but like the idea of a GS, get the LC. If you need a bigger bike, with big tank, and aren't bothered about having the latest model, get the GSA. Both are awesome bikes.:beerjug:

Good advice. What's the Akra like on the LC? Does it crackle and pop on the overrun? Sound is very important part of the character of a bike, would love to know what the LC sounds like with the Akrapovic.

It sounds fantastic, and does pop and crackle.:beerjug: I've taken the baffles out of mine to make it a bit louder. On a recent trip to Italy, the noise that it made in the tunnels certainly made people aware I was there.:D

Wow, I'm nearly sold. The standard exhaust on the LC lacked a lot of theatre. Sounds like the Akra is a must have if you like sound.

What colour LC and luggage do you have? Can you fit a helmet into the side panniers on the LC? Hate carrying around my helmet.:(

I went for Thunder Grey with the BMW varios. My Tour X3 will fit in the pannier if I expand it. Here's some pics to whet your appetite:D

I really should be on commission from BMW.:rob:D

I had the same choice and went GSA. The offers on at the moment sort of helped but quite honestly I was never in any doubt.

Would you ever order a 'medium' kebab?

Darn, my pictures didn't work.:blast Search my posts and you'll get the idea.:D

whats is gonna be !!

GSA every time for me, a proper bike :thumb

ive owned a GS but after a 4 GSA's ive owned, the GS is like a little toy.

If your worried about speed then stick with the RR and an akro sounds much better on the GSA......

It's each to their own but me and three other tossers on here have just all rebought new GSA,s when we could have had the WC and we are taking them to the Alps in 10 days time :D

BTW nice dog, my new new jack is on the page before and he is so cool
