I think Wapping has already had issues with his new 1600.Might be why he’s window shopping ?
Yeah, I know…………back to being diplomatic
. I think he’s using it as a warning to BMW , there are other options out there.

Not at all.
The EMF problem is affecting bikes beyond BMW, as many share the same screen internals. The broken wire? It didn’t stop the bike going forward.
I went more than anything, to see what the fuss was about. I had never ridden an ‘automatic’ nor one of the barge big Honda bike, since owning my 1100 PanEuropean years ago.
What was the broken wire ?
For those who bought their Goldwings new, when did you have your first services done and how long did it take the dealers to complete the work? Mine is going in for its first service tomorrow at a mileage of just under 800 for one reason or another.
The mileage is 600 for the 1st service, but it doesn't need to be spot on. Takes about an hour IIRC . Where are you taking it for service ?.
How long did they keep you there ?Vertu Honda Grantham. About an hour or so away from me, and some mates are coming across from Derbyshire for some lunch whilst I wait. Was told it took 2-3hrs which I thought was quite long for what basically is an oil and filter change.
You’ve had time to reflect on your last test ride. Any pertinent thoughts ?I have the 48 hour cruise about (in a non-sporty way) booked for mid-June, via Dobbles or whatever it is they call themselves. Honda, Chiswick couldn’t (or wouldn’t) do extended rides, which seems a bit silly on big (expensive) bikes like this. I wouldn’t buy any bike, based on nothing more than a hour.

But it looks shiteDon’t write off the DCT tour, it can hussle along when needed. The problem is when you ride a DCT demo bike it’s new. Virtually no mileage on it but the gearbox ‘learns’ what you want over a couple of thousand miles.
When I got mine it had 4 miles on the clock and would be in 7th gear at less than 40mph. Now, it won’t go into top until at least 50mph and changes gear at what I would call normal gear change speeds.
in reality, the new wing rides more like a modernised Pan European to me.
what ever you decide, enjoy your test ride.

Your diplomatic side coming out againBut it looks shite![]()

Thanks.
The fellow in Chiswick explained about the ‘learning’ thing but I took it with a pinch of salt.
I hope I do enjoy it but, as it stands at the moment, it’ll be for the ‘experience’ as much as anything else. It took me a full day’s test ride to ‘Get’ the 1600, when it was first released in 2011, so no doubt the ‘Wing will be the same. It was the same for my Himalayan. Hats off to those who can do it based on nothing more 20 minutes down the dual carriageway to Tesco.….. or simply without a test ride at all.
Bought a few myself, but back in the sub 10 grand days.I bought my first Varadero without a test ride but it’s the only bike I ever have, luckily it was brilliant
Why would you buy a pretend GoldwingBought a few myself, but back in the sub 10 grand days.
Gotta say that Arsey's bike talks to me in a way I know I could get to love, whatever it's faults might be.
It looks fantastic, it's a Honda, and I'd take a blind punt if offered at short notice for the right money.
It’s got no topbox so it looks rubbish.
