Goldwing…….nearly

But does it have to be a comms unit ? Surely anything small with Bluetooth might suffice ?[/QUOTE]

I wonder if you could use an old phone

I’m thinking this might work ?

Did a bit of research and it seems this will work fine.

And one of these so I can still charge phone and plug in the Bluetooth adaptor

Presumable still need to do the tedious disconnect and reconnect every time you turn off ignition?

It would depend on the protocols in both devices

My android phone connects to my Io car system as soon as i turn on the ignition, and disconnects my Bose headset & vice versa when the ignition is turned off

but the kicker is there always only optional protocols , if either side dosnt want to enable them, you dont get em

( the annoying part is , there are approximatly 32 protocols within the bluetooth spec, if they were all turned on by default, no one would have any issues with connecting / streaming/ sharing )

Quick initial thoughts on my Wing….
I’ve done 160 miles since collecting last Wednesday.Obviously all just pottering around locally as wont get a chance to take it away till next year now.
The fit and finish seems top notch.Everything works every well.
The DCT is ultra smooth as is the 6 cylinder motor.
Comfort for both rider and pillion is very good-at least it is on short rides.
The handling, for such a big bus, is amazing.
Gave myself a surprise when my right foot scraped the floor the other day-my toes must have been angled a tad off the peg !!
It seems to have a very low c of g and tips into corners just lovely.
Very pleased with the Shad 58x top box-suits the bike perfectly and will be great for trips away.
The standard short screen is great but I’ll probably fit the tall screen for longer trips.
I’m averaging 51mpg so far.

Love the creep mode to manoeuvre around the drive/garage etc.

Any complaints ?
Non really, though at 6’1’” the pegs could possibly be a tad lower and a tad further forward to increase comfort.
And the pre-load adjuster is not easy to get at, though it’ll rarely need adjusting.,

Overall the bike has exceeded my expectations in every way, having only had a quick one hour demo on a Tour DCT.

Great bike .

Nice pic and initial assessment.:thumby:

Was the sea not a tad cold this time of year for you and the missus though? ;) :D

Arsey, just a quick point. My pal had a mat finish bagger and he cursed it when cleaning it. The answer was to have paint protection film fitted.

Ok ta .
I’ve already cleaned it and used the sun wash shampoo that came with my RKS which had a similar paint finish .

He won’t keep it long enough for that to be a problem..

Surely there can't be THAT much salt in a couple drops of Dawn that is then diluted in a gallon of warm water can there be? (Not "dishwasher" but "dish washing" detergent.)

The problem with using detergent on vehicles with traditional paint is it dissolves oil and wax, but my thinking was with matte paint there shouldn't be any wax, and any sheen from oil or finger prints we want removed.
One of the very few things I don't care for on my Wing is the matte paint.

I bought the same bike back end of 2020 and i took it straight into workshop and we Gave it a Full Dc Beasley ceramic coating although i never kept the bike as i couldn't hold it up with my left leg injury. I did clean it several times it never stopped raining every time i took it out. I found the best way to wash it was with dc beasleys mat wash an dit left a couple of dab spots but it was ok. I think now HONDA recommend a mat washer not sure. Im back thinking shall I buy another i like the DCT f0r my left leg also the crawler and reverse but not sure. I like big twins as to the car like 6cyl goldwing engines. I have had 12 goldings in total :-) and 11 BMW GS GSA's only one KTM 1290 which is a proper bike but its hard for me to mount getting old and lots of issues FFS:-) I will see I'm still always drawn to the Wing Bagger HONDA hate it being called a bagger they say call it "GOLDWING"

Derek.
It’s your bike I’m on about. When John bought your bagger he found the Beasley stuff was more trouble than it was worth when washing. He eventually followed me down the paint protection film route.

What does that entailed and who and how much ?

It entails riding your bike into invisible patterns in Leigh, Lancashire. They cover many parts likely to get scratched with magic, and hey presto, your wallet is empty. About £450 if I remember correctly.

All the best people ride a Goldwing tour. Guy Martin’s was delivered today.
