Sorry I haven't read all the previous posts, so apologies if I am repeating. Bahnstormer? where does the name come from? I was away when my mate text me the good news about you opening, I can honestly say I had a few beers toasting you guys, all the very best to you I will be a regular visitor. :beerjug: :clap :hug

The origins of the name Bahnstormer

Originally the term Barnstormer related to pilots see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnstorming

In the seventies, when I started riding BMW's, one LJK Setright wrote the book Bahnstormer - The history of BMW motorcycles and I couldn't help but think Bahnstorming relates to what we like to do and is a whole load less boring than our names or initials!

They have opened!!

Went down to old SPC today. They have opened under new name B S.

Sale of goods clothing etc. Lots of visitors.

Service area looks Fit for Purpose. Some stock of bikes in already.

Bought a new pair of boots, you know I have funny small feet and can get very challenged looking for footwear, They are BMW replacement for existing pair which have been very good.

I wish them well and look forward to service etc.

Popped in today to see the place open. Damn those fantastic prices - new jacket and helmet as well...:thumb

popped in today.work in progress. my only comment/gripe/thought was who was who.lots of people milling around.but nobody meeting and greeting on my way out of the shop a guy from brm motorcycles bath asked me if i was the boss as he had some floor tiles for me:eek: everything seemed very informal.imho a new business needs to sell itself bearing in mind the recent history with spc/cooper reading.quite a few guys/girls just walked around and then left.i hope it was'nt a missed opertunity.or perhaps im just an old fart:nenau .the best of luck to them, i will give them a go as i like the ride to alton as oxford is a boring ride A34.

I agree that it was very informal, my mate and I also spent about an hour there, did get offered coffee but no-one said hello which would have been nice, or some info about the plans, I do wish them all the best and I am not a business man but I think I would have made sure everyone was made to feel welcome and left in no doubt as to who was who.

Thanks for visiting and for the heads up!

Thank you ash19600 & k12pfc for coming down to Bahnstormer on Saturday and for passing on your thoughts.

I agree the day was informal and there is still a lot of work in progress but this was a chance to clear some of the parts and clothing stock purchased through the receivers of SPC, please view it as a trial before the "grand opening" in March, however, your input has been very valuable and will help us make some improvements for the next gig.

As with any event (formal or informal) the ratio between visitors and staff will always result in some guests feeling unacknowledged, this is never intentional, just a consequence of a very popular day.

Hey guys cut them some slack :nono When I was in Saturday all the staff were working flat out dealing with customers like me grabbing a bargain :beerjug:
It was plain to see that they were doing their best and I was given a warm welcome from a number of the staff and the new owners (but I was around for a couple of hours):D
Also, it was especially gratifying to see them turn down a helmet sale to my mate saying "no that helmet does not fit you right and you won't be happy with it" (knowing they did not have another size!).
Just over a week ago they fitted me in for a 6000 mile service for my chosen day 17 Feb even though that Saturday was not favourite for them - but then I found out last Friday that I had today off - they kindly changed it for today :thumb2
My 6000 mile service was duly done today & again I was made to feel most welcome. Of note is the fact they still are not fully connected with their computer systems (expected later this week) making every transaction long winded as they have to check up codes/prices and issue manual receipts which also affected their performance for their very busy Saturday.
As you can tell, I am a very happy customer and I can see me going nowhere else with my BMW. :thumb

Was....

looking at bahnstomer's web site this morning, whilst there thought I would send them an email to see if I could get my bike serviced before the official opening, that was at 09:32, have just recieved a reply saying they will call me tomorrow and arrange a it. Good response...:D So if the rest of dealership lives up to the standard of web site and the promopt response we could be on a winner here....:D
