Wife, kids and me went to Westport for the week, before the kids returned to school and all.
We had a great week, cycling, swimming, 10 pin bowling etc.

Had to take a wee trip to Castlebar A&E on Thursday morning with some pain to the chest:confused: shortly followed by a trip upstairs to intensive care for the weekend:blast
Came to Galway University Hospital on Monday for an Angiogram...straight up to the bloody coronary care unit until further bloody notice!!!!!

:eek::eek:
Take care of yourselfs lads

Shit that is bad. If it's any consolation, I had a similar experience a couple of months back and it was a great wake up call.
Sounds like they caught it in time, and yer in the right place now. Wishing you all the best for the ongoing recovery.

Take care../Rob

Best of luck John. Hope they've caught something before it has gone to far.

Similar thing happening here man but lung related I think. Get the results Thursday but had a biopsy two weeks ago to remove a lip nod for testing.

Head up anyway. My thoughts are with you.

Heading for a CT scan, hopefully in the morning. The angio didn't show a "normal cause" for the heart attack:eek:
It's something to do with my auto immune system, wtf is one of them? I was even surprised that I had a heart lol!!
I don't think I've ever been so scared in my fekin life, but the sleeping meds work wonders.

Take care mate.... a real wake up call.....

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate end to your holiday, but should like to send best wishes for a speedy recovery and no recurrence.

As a matter of interest was this the first episode of such a pain or have you had twinges previously and ignored them?

Afraid my biking will be put on hold for a few weeks too, as I'm having an arthroscopy (keyhole surgery of the knee)t'row afternoon, having torn my cruciate and ruptured the ligament. The former, I presume, last month whilst bending to play with my grandson when it first locked, whilst 30 mins of swimming finished the job a couple of weeks back, since when, bending, straightening or weight-bearing is quite painful. Unfortunately I do have experience of the procedure having torn the cartilage in my other knee last year. Just hoping this op goes as smoothly as that one and that I can again return to biking and work in a couple of weeks.

Like most of you, I too think hospitals are horrible places... until we really need them... and I have spent the past 30 year working in them.

the only way to look at it john is the week could have gone a lot worse,as my dad would say when you are able to complain you are not so bad.
hope all goes well for you john

Jeeps - scary stuff

Any prior symptoms?

An auto immune system is where your normal immune system attacks healthy body cells and tissue. It can be genetic, bacteria or viruses or any nymber of other 'causes' Basically nobody knows for certain.

Wishing you a speedy recivery :thumb2

I had pain on Tuesday when swimming, thought I had pulled a muscle. That passed within a min or two. Later that day (Tue) I had pain on the left side of my chest, just a niggle and no shortness of breath.
Thursday was bad, pain started at 9.30 pm ish, I thought it was the Thai curry and Guinness (very tasty) lol.
Waited to 10 the next morning before I got to A&E. If only I had thought Heart Attack!!!

I was worried about looking like a dick in the hospital just in case it was it was only indigestion doh!!

hands up

Get well soon lad.

Not wishing to frighten anyone, and I'm no Doctor, but 40 to 60ish (anyone) white males are at high risk for heart disease:eek:
And it gets worse if you have any of the other risk factors: overweight, smoker, lack of exercise, family history etc.
So heed the warning you lot, unexplained or recurring chest pain needs investigating. You dont get many warnings.

Could you list your boots & clothing sizes please saves alot of fekking about later on when it comes to the share out:thumb2

Well, somebody had to say it:nenau

;)Hope all goes well at least you're in the right place:comfort

Back home

Well I've been home from last Thursday now, seen my own Doc and got my FIRST ever "sick line".
Waiting now to see the coronary care team. I've been told to take it real easy lol.

I never thought that walking so short a distance would make me so tired. Thanks to everyone for their kind wishes, especially Bryan in Galway with his offer of help:beerjug:

All the best, John

Surprised they made you walk home but the cutbacks are unrelenting, I suppose.

Great to hear the boots are not available!!

Best wishes for recovery and back to biking asap, you know it makes sense.
