Took delivery of 2015 Tenere with 780 miles in showroom condition. Sadly traded in the old LC after a year, will miss the old girl. But wont miss the front and rear shock failures the peeling paint on engine, final drive and wheels. also the charming surging from time to time. The rattly clutch and weird musical noises from the front end and charismatic clunky gearbox.
It never let me down but it had to go.
The Tenere is smooth and fast and well equipped and riding position is identical to the GS and I hope build quality will be better than the BM.
only downside is the throttle is a bit on off at low speed. looking forward to trying it out on the twisties :thumb2

I've done 17,000klms on my 2016 GS and had none of those issues so maybe I just got a good one :) Enjoy your Tenere

I have 61,000 kms on my l/c gsa. I love it although it's had a new exhaust and a new rear shock. There's a few bits of rust and paint erosion but I'd buy another one tomorrow if I could afford one. This one is a keeper. JJH

Cheers for that, but wont rule out GS in the future if build quality improves.

I had a great deal lined up on a Tenere before buying my GS but just could not get a ride on one anywhere. They aren't a big seller here so not many demo bikes.

Will probably last forever too

Congrats, I love the Tenere! If it just had a bit more power and a bit less weight i would have bought one over the GS originally.

You will enjoy the Tenere. After problems with all 4 GS Adventure's I've owned I decided to jump ship and buy a Yamaha. It just feels very reassuring to own. I don't notice the weight and it's fast enough for me especially in S mode. Had the seat made more comfortable, adjusted the handlebars and it's great.
I have a feeling there will be a lot more people buying this bike. If you don't need the off road KTM type bike, a machine that will always start and doesn't fall apart is what we all really want don't we?

This just reminds me of a jilted boy with his new girlfriend, parading her around in front of his ex! Look at my new bird, she's gorgeous and I'm so happy...

Enjoy the new bike.

good luck.

If i ever swapped my GS, which is unlikely i would consider a new triumph tiger 1050. same power as a GS and a triple....

BMW I love you X

I've also sold my GSA I've had 4 all WC and haven't had any major issues at all with any of them, each one covered over 10,000 miles with the last one a 2016 with 25,000 miles on it and still looking mint. I would have another maybe in a couple of years but just fancy a change. The GS,s I've had have all been brilliant.

What have I brought yes, another BMW, I've had nothing but great service so it was the obvious choice after thinking and checking out the other brands. So an S 1000 R sport is in the pipeline waiting for a delivery date.

I wonder if the S10 has changed a lot recently? Test rode a 12 plate and a 14 plate and they were horrible. Stupidly heavy clutch lever with a very vague bite point, horrible pick up from the engine at
Low speeds, sounded like a sewing machine on steroids and felt as agile as an oil tanker. Shame as I think it looks far nicer than a GS or any of the beaked adventure wannabes and build quality looked top notch.

Just waiting for my new s 10 due any day, decided i needed a change after my last two lc gsss had identical issues obviously BMW cant get them built quite right at the present time? will report back on Yamaha after a couple of weeks:thumby:

Rode the original super ten before I bought r1200gsa tc, didn't buy as my wife was not comfortable on the back. That was the only reason as in every other aspect it was a nicer bike to ride.

Recently rode a new model and again it was excellent but still not comfortable on the back for my wife, okay it is a bit down on power on the lc but imho better finished and the suspension is really nice.

Sure it is due a revamp in the next couple of years so we will see

Hi Funnily enough I traded a 2015 S10 for a new GS LC. ....Its not that the tenere is bad, its not its very good.....but I didn't get on with the throttle, could never get it smooth except in T Mode . Reduced power, but I don't want to ride it on reduced power. The rear wheel spokes can come loose , quickly and cause considerable damage . Mine came loose , but caught them before fell apart. Also , Finish is good, but still requires caring for. I had some corrosion starting in bits.
However , only minor points. The reason I changed was that the LC IMHO is just so much better overall. I actually had no intention to change, but my other half was test riding a GS and so I had a ride ...or two and ...well . Not sorry I changed it to be honest. Had my GS LC since Sept 2016 and 3000 on it now and Loving it . Best bike I have ever owned. However I'm sure you will love the Yam and it is very reliable and should give you good service, enjoy . :-)

I agree the yams fueling is a bit on/off in sport mode and the pillion seat is not as plush as the GS, but love the agility and superb brakes.
Iam sure it wont be a perfect bike but is there one out there?, it was a toss up between the Yam or 1050 Tiger had a 1050 Sprint so fancied a change.

I've had my Super tenere (2014 gen 2 model) for 2 1/2 years. I've only done 10,000mls on it but it has been excellent apart from a spoke in the rear wheel coming loose at approx 800 mls. The wheel was rebuilt under warranty, no spoke or other issues since then. I find the bike comfortable solo or two up, it regularly returns over 50mpg, servicing is fairly cheap and easy, and now it's out of warranty I'll do it myself (no fretting about shall I keep the bike because the warranty has run out, or should I buy the expensive BMW extended warranty)
Yes it has less power than a 1200GS, but it's still plenty powerful enough for two up riding, it's fast enough to get you banned or sent to prison. The only problem I have with the Yam is the weight and seat height, this is because of arthritis in my knees, hands, back and hips (yes I'm fecked) and often consider buying something a bit lower and lighter.
The finish of the bike is very good, no paint peeling off anything, they have a reputation for being extremely reliable machines, especially compared to modern BMWs. The 1200gs is a good bike, but costs several thousand more than the Yamaha, and frankly I don't think it's several thousands pounds better. But if you want to be fashionable and are happy to get your bike on PCP (just as well with the many issues on GS's) then go for it. My last modern BMW was an 1150GS which I owned for six years, loved it, got bored with it and replaced it with a Guzzi Stelvio which I liked even more. During part of my Stelvio ownership I had a Tiger 1050 as well, but I kept gravitating to the Stelvio so the 1050 went after a couple of years.
IMHO the Yamaha ( I paid £11k including luggage, centre stand, heated grips, spotlights) offers more value for money than the far more expensive BMW.
