I have fitted a Goodrich braided hose to an 1100 today and it would not go together without a partial twist in it? the ends of the hoses are covered in some kind of shrink wrap, has anyone rotated the hose on the stainless fitting to get rid of partial twists on these type of hoses?

I had to do this when I fitted a set of braided hoses to my 1150. They were German, not Goodridge, and the instructions gave details on how to grip the two parts and twist them. If I recall correctly the maximum permissible twist was about a quarter turn.

I would assume there is a crimped ferrule covered with heatshrink. Having made these hoses up myself, it is imperitive to have the correct orientation of the fittings prior to crimping, braided hoses dont like to twist due to the bias of the weave. If fittings don't align it shows poor assembly/manufacture.. Send it back.

Yes the ones I fitted to my own bike were German ones, made by Melvins, they even had a hexagon on them and rotated easily, I managed to fit this one but theres a slight twist that I dont like.

Hi Stewart, i have fitted goodrich front caliper ones this morning, 1st time i have used goodrich, seem good quality but i had similar problems, not as impresive fit as Earls. Had to change them around a few times to get a good fit ven after copying the originals. Still got two more to do but after doing seals and pistons :blast and spending 12 hours in the shed yesterday, went out on me bike as we wont get too many days like this Sat Sun. Nearly ready to start the bleeding :augie

Thr bleeding was superb on this bike, the big syringe worked perfectly, connected to the caliper nipple. quality of the hoses is superb.

Tried syringe on rear caliper but just came out of the nipple base, if i tightened it down a bit fluid would not go in, tried other way ie sucking it out but still no back brake. The caliper is new.

Used syringe on ABS unit for rear, pulling rather than pushing it in, sucked a load of air out still more to come i suspect. Left it for now and moved on to fitting the rest of the goodrich, all ok till i got to the one that tends to snap (reservoir to headstock). No matter which way i fit it there is tension when i turn the bars. i think this one should be a swivel union which would solve the problem

Strange that? was the reservoir top off? nipple loosened a couple of turns and a gentle push ought to get fluid straight through, is there a little free play in the brake pedal to master cylinder? (there ought to be) I think the ABS bleed is to stop a bubble causing an airlock there, you should get fluid out of there from the rear too I think.

had the caliper nipple open 1/2 turn but lots of resistance and it just came out from round the bottom of the nipple, i will open a bit more.

Any comments on the brake line from resevoir to headstock being under tension when the bars move, they are all just dry fitted till i am happy with them

Not good IMO, offer the others in the set up, they are all similar.

alimey, you are correct in your comment but without a swivel union they will all get tugged left an right as you turn the bars. I put the original back on and that does it aswell which explains why the split over time. Anyway i haven't got a box big enough to send the bike back to the manufacturer :D
