Google Maps Problem

If you look at the map below you will see that Google Maps will not route the shortest route over the Flexenpass.
Any ideas why?
This isn't the first time I've noticed this sort of issue.

Check your preferences.

(a) Avoid U-turns ON or OFF? The software can read a sharp hairpin as a U-turn.

(b) Avoid seasonal closures, ON or OFF?

Also check that you are running the latest mapset / software.

A bod reported a similar problem over other passes. His wouldn't, mine would.

you should also be able to grab the part of the route that is wrong and move it to where it should be.

As previously suggested, add a waypoint.

However, you may still have problems routing across some passes that seem to have a break in the "routing net". I've had problems routing across Stelvio (and on Finchley Road in London for that matter).

Maybe Google maps just wants to prevent Hippies in campervans and young families with Ford Fiesta from the roads that are intented for Real men on two wheels only

I've been using google maps to plot a few routes for a friend going to Italy. Stupid google maps won't let me plot a route over the Timmelsjoch.

I have assumed it's a seasonal thing but there isn't the option to turn that off as Wapping suggests.
