Thingy being a technical term...
Been through the info here on the site and I was sure that I saw, somewhere, about an "L" shaped connector to plug the gps into the auxilliary power socket.
Having gone back to find it again, I cannot.
Has anyone got one, and is it fairly robust and waterproof?

The Lucas connector that I have got seems to stick out quite a lot from the 1100 power socket on the left hand side of the bike, about 8" above the footrest - and it does not seem to be all that weather proof.

Are the BMW connectors a bit slimmer/neater? And presumably they will be more robust and therefore waterproof?
Thanks in advance
Chuck

I think you are much better off wiring direct to the battery, inserting an inline fuse into the live side for protection you could put in a switch as well if you wanted.

Or fit another accessory socket nearer the cockpit AKA the Adventure.

Chuck,

you'll be wanting one of these...

Although I'd be inclined to agree with Pete that hard wiring is the better option.

Hi Rev,

did not know you had went the gps route, and you laughed at my alloys as well.
What did you buy?
Getting on ok with it?
Mines is hardwired to the bike, never had any problems.

Thanks guys. Yep, know that it would probably be better to hard wire it to the battery and put a fuse and switch in, but at this point in time I don't know if I have the technical proficiency that is required to do that.
Yep, I know that I am a numpty too - although Kenny I might just pop round and see you.
Kenny, purchased a "V" off a site member, have still to get a ram mount to attach to the very nice TT cradle it came with. I couldn't justify the expense of something with more spec - I think this will do the job.
Mike - thanks for the website address.
Chuck.

Rev,
I can always be persuaded to have a run down to the borders, and while im there I could do your wiring over a tea and cake, im that cheap:) .

Seriously if you want help it can be arranged.
