Intro:
Route planning has been in the making for sometime. We tend to start planning our next holiday soon after returning from a holiday.
This trip was to head back to the South of France and take in some more of the Alps, with a few days in one place and then a few more days off the bike. We plan to stay off the motorways as much as possible except when we need to make distance.
If anyone would like the routes please drop me a PM and i'll send them to you.
The Route:
We have been down this way before so I already have some routes and waypoints saved. Pinched a few ideas for some routes to ride off the Interweb and a few planned in basecamp looking for twisty roads.

Bike loaded and ready to go.

Day 1, see's us heading south from Harrogate to the Channel Tunnel crossing over to Calais for our first nights stop in Arras. Booked in to the Ibis Styles. We've stopped off here before so we know what we are getting.
Day 2, heading to Dijon for our second night stop. Staying off the motorway today, the weather was mixed with a fresh start and we hit a big patch of mist/ fog that lasted for about an hour, then we had lovely warm sunshine for the rest of the journey.
We booked into the Ibis Styles in Dijon. This was the first time we have stayed here and have to say we weren't disappointed.
A few pictures of the decor

The beer was nice and cold and the food wasn't too bad either.

Day three, we head towards Grenoble. Having been through Grenoble a few times over the years, I swore never to go through the town again as we always seem to get on the long straight road with more sets of traffic lights and tram lines than anywhere else. However this time, we planned to arrive early afternoon so we could get the cable car up the mountain to see the views over the town. The cable cars are one of the first urban cable cars in the world second to Rio de janeiro. 6 euro each for a return journey. I must say it was definately worth the effort. Oh did I mention it was 28 deg's....

Day 4, leaving Grenoble for our next stop off in Castellane following the Route Napoléon. We were here for three nights as I had planned two day trip riding rounthe the Gorge de Verdon and another day through the national park. We had booked into the Nouvel Hotel Castellane, as recommended from someone on the site. Very nice hotel, private parking round the side and plenty of places to eat.
A few pictures from the day.

To be continued.....
