This weekend sees Wapping blighted by the London Marathon, so I’ll be heading off and away.

Once again, it will be to north east France but doing something a bit different. For a change, I am going to leave the Chunnel at Calais in the late afternoon but, instead of heading south, I am going to go a little way eastwards, to just south of Dunkirk, taking the smaller D roads to to hotel I have plucked at random from the internet:

Day two, a return journey from the hotel, east to west to Wimereux, just north of Boulogne and back, taking some pretty small (sometimes unclassified) roads:

Day three, hotel to see la Coupole. I have lost count how often I have been past or close by the museum but have never been:

The, the museum ticked off, up to Cap Gris Nez, to stay at a very basic French cafe, where I have got to know the owners very well:

Last day, a short hop on Monday morning from Cap Gris Nez to the Chunnel:

In all about 340 miles, Chunnel to Chunnel, plus the 90 minutes to and from the Chunnel from home. Not epic but good enough to avoid some very rapid dark fellows, sprinting past my house.

You'll enjoy la Coupole. Tastfully and authentically restored in some sections but in others, retaining the dark malevolence of its original intention. Despite an incredible effort of slave labour by the Todt Organisation, the Royal Air Force rather awkwardly intervened. Thanks for the routes. I do so enjoy a chug around the D roads.

I do not envy you, as I would have done same thing instead of being locked in Wapping, just because some very dark and rapid fellows want to have a runabout a place.

Question is, which steed shall you pedal? Will it be a K16 or a gentle pootle on a Himmy?
Enjoy your jaunt and Break a leg nonetheless as the saying goes…

I shall be riding this very section of your route in May, on my way to rendezvous with Cptn. Arsey in St. Malo.

Gotta be the Mighty Himalayan, Surely?

I have taken the 1600 along some very narrow ‘roads’ (not much wider than a wheelbarrow) alongside and over the canals and ditches of north east France before. One slip and it’s into the stagnant water.

Crikey! This tells me that Himmy is the steed of choice then.

'Kvestion not answered' as Herr Otto Flick from 'Allo 'Allo!, might say.

I’ll decide on the morning of departure. If I am very lazy, it’ll be the 1600, as that has to be moved to get the Himalayan out of the garage. The Himalayan also has a load of stuff from my motorhome piled on it. But, I may deal with that tomorrow. I would / should do it this evening but I am going to the cinema.

I see…..

First world problems…

Anyhow…

What shall be displayed upon silver screen Sir?

M’off too this weekend, so thanks Wapping for your Cayeux sur Mer route. I’ll be borrowing parts of it and really looking forward to seeing the previously unknown to me, WW2 sites.

M off too this weekend. Slightly different to you lot though. A long tiring weekend of volunteering as a medic on the Fellsman. 🤞🏻 for decent weather for the entrants. The Yorkshire Dales are going to be busy this weekend. As well as the Fellsman event there is the Yorkshire Three Peaks race taking place.

Well, you’ll be pleased to know Paula Radcliffe has retired so won’t be taking a ‘sh*t stop’ in your manor. Comforting information given as you are away.

Wait, you're not going to stand on the Highway and cheer me as I plod past?
Rude! ;)

Today i heard an amazing statistic.
33% of distance runners shit themselves semi regular.

I never knew this was a thing!
If I ever needed an excuse not to run this will do for me.

Paula might not shit nearby a tossers home, but someone will 🤣
