i will soon be putting the gearbox back into my gs mono and want to grease the gearbox to clutch splines. when i bought the bike i was given a tube of optimol paste white T, made by castrol in germany, is this any good for the job? thanks steve

The Optimol is the one mentioned in the Clymer workshop manual. I have used moly paste for the job, which is a solid lubricant with no mineral 'grease' content.
 
I've always used Honda Moly 60 for this - an almost solid 60% molybdenum paste (admittedly on oilheads). Can be hard to find - I got mine from ebay.
