...fitted this past weekend and have to say I'm very impressed, makes the grips feel nice and chunky and provides a fuller fit in the hand, opposed to the finger over-lapping skinny jobs that come as standard on the GS.

+1 also good vibration dampers.

But don't expect much heat to pass through if you have heated grips.

Fitted on the GS a few years ago, opted for the longer Goldwing ones that covers the bar end. Folded the throttle side over to make a nice lip that keeps the hand in position. The heated grips takes longer to warm up and the throttle is more sensitive to inputs. Dampens the vibrations a bit, overall a good mod for the GS.

I also find the grips too skinny so made up some grip pads with non-slip rubber mesh to gauge the difference. Then I may do it properly with grip puppies or even sorbothane.

I agree that the standard grips are just a tiny tad too thin and hard, but I've tried the grip puppies and found them too thick. Like holding a scaffold pole !

I want something in between .. :beerjug:

Try wrapping with 3mm Sorbothane sheet and self amalgamating tape over. Cycle handlebar tape is another option but IME too chunky and not very vibration damping. Cheap to try though.

I have just spent 2p on some anti slip rubber mesh and gaffa tape wrapped around the grips. The grip diameter was a little more comfortable but vibration damping minimal. It was much better with the gaffa tape peeled off, but in every other respect not great.

3mm Sorbothane will be the next test.
