GS - 911 Fault Finder

A quick PS to my last post.Stephan also said that there would be a dealer being appointed in Ireland in the very near future. He said he ould discuss options for a club buy with them.

...me living in the US doesn't pose a problem for the group purchase

:nenau

Siggi

dont see why it is gonna be a problem the bulk shipping will be to the UK then each item shipped from here and postage charged accordingly.

Am I right in thinking this can also be used on the 1100?...Thats if I ever find the socket!

The web site tells you the facilities available with each model of BMW.

http://www.hexcode.co.za/

Look under Function Chart - R1100S is covered but it does not mention the R1100GS

Thanks for your reply..The 850 isnt supported sa it uses the 2.2 module so Im guessing the 1100 is also 2.2 unlike the 1150 which uses the 2.4. There next release will cover both modules.

So hows your numbers going on the bulk purchase...any idea when? Need it soon.

Thanks

Gabby

I think a bulk buy will be in the New Year iIhave not yet sorted out how much they will be as Iwill need to give an idea of how many are likley to constitute a bulk buy.

I watched wilbr21 use it twice in morroco, you will also need to carry a new sidestand switch and the imobiliser thingy buy the ignition, probly a fuel pump switch and the latest upgrades for the k series' great bit of kit though, it dosnt fix the 1200 just tells you which bits failed :bounce1

Can you please clarify the need to carry switchs and thingy?

I am interested but a price estimate would be appreciated

You only need to carry what makes you feel secure....

I left on my 9000 km in 3 weeks odessy wondering what was going to break.... Would it be the ignition ring antenna?... would it be my final drive?... I already had my well used spare front brake micro-switch from when I crunched it in norway... I made up some rubber hand-guard bits as I expected to drop and break at least one... I made up some jumpers to quickly bypass my side-stand switch if it went... I inspect my fuel pump controller and make sure it is dry/o-ring lubed... Had my GS-911 ... but no parts to repair whatever it found faulty...

In the end.... I had a headlamp go... (had a spare one of those... =)

Sometimes reading about "what can fail" (often over stated by owners of older models who feel that "nothing can match what they spent the big bucks on...) makes us feel less happy about these wonderful toys... It helps us be prepared if something does go... but going offroad with a final drive unit is not really in the cards... just go for it IMHO.

9000 kms in 3 weeks... 1/4 of it offroad... other than the main beam lamp, the
only failures were in bits that I made/attached... (muffs not quite right, front fender extender grabbed by TKC... electric pump hose stress cracked and useless... )

Al....

OK,I have tonight sent an email to the Irish distributor for the GS-911 as i have about 11 people showing an interest.I am awaiting their response as to a price.Regards Andy.

OK so i just had an email back from the suppliers in Ireland. They are offering a 5% discount which if the item is around £210.00 (310 Euro) for the blu tooth one by the time they have been shipped to me and I have then forwarded them to yourselves i dont see that any great saving has been made.Personally I think £210 is far too much.As I believe s figure of around £144 was mentioned at the start of this thread.May be we could see if they will offer a club discount so individuals may buy?

P.S Just looked on the makers web site they come out at £153.00 not sure what the shipping is.But it wont be £57.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
