GS-911

Stephan from GS911 sponsored my trip with their great product so I'm a little biased but I can say with hand on heart that it has never let me down anytime that I've needed it.

And I've used it NOT just for myself but helped people on the road and even demo'd the hardware for everyone at the Horizons Unlimited Events in the UK who had an interest or question about the kit. (I'm was the little cockney bloke with the DAKAR by the way)

The more people that buy the kit, either for themselves or for their riding group the better the feedback and the better the service and the software will get, remember that the best way for the software to get better is from user feedback and Stephan really does take notice of points raised and if you have a question the guys really quick to answer it.

And for those people that still ask me, you CAN run the 911 software under MAC OSX with bootcamp and it works exactly the same, I tend to use my Macbook for running it as it's SSD to no harddrive to mess up whilst out riding.

do you know of any apps that this will run with an Iphone ?

regards

Tony

PCs are on the way out - laptops and especially desktops.
Apple's are too closed down so porting it to Android would be a really good idea.

Well it was really easy to get it to run on the Mac just use bootcamp and have 20 gig of free space for windows.

The iPhone's bluetooth is super protected for a good reason, so it can't be hacked in 2 seconds like I can my friends phones. Some of the bluetooth changes in the new update might address the code changes that are needed but don't hold your breath for that to happen.

My Macbook + gs-911 doesn't rake up much room and weighs almost nothing so I always take them with me for anything longer then 2 days away.

i own a 2009 gs 1200 Adventure brought for 14'000 ish brand new first year cost me 450 service fees only 9000 km.
Just about due for next service will do myself, filters plugs valve clearances and end float and balance of cables etc etc. I am hoping to do a more thorough job than dealer. I want an obd2 reader to correctly identify faults etc but seem we are all blind sided into thinking only gs911 will do or main dealer of course. Why is it that no other product will do this simple task. Bearing in mind there are many car obd reader on the market capable of reading many manufacturers codes to some degree some better than others. All this for sometimes less than 30.00 quid. Why is there are none capable of reading bikes or even hgv's at even close to this price.
F.Y.I take a look at the sealey obd2 reader about 35.00 on the bay. there are many copies to be seen only painted different colours out there
I am angry whilst reading this tittle tattle on here about loyalty to the brand and extreme predjudice towards chinese or otherwise copies of such.
I feel if the original manufacturesrs were to market their product at a more competitive price it would push out these fakes. I can speak from experience as i run a nissan 300zx tt 1990 car . Nissan Consult is the product used to diagnose car faults etc. I can tell you i purchased a product called Nissan ConZult "a copy" and it works perfectly and have had no problems apart form my computer dying with original password encrypted copy within. I contact manufacturer and was able to download another copy which i also backed up on a flash at no cost . That was in my opinion exceptional service.
Bring on the rain.......

The GS911 is and does far more than a two bob diagnostic code reader.

You can get their portable version for Android, if that's what you are looking for?
Runs flawless on my Galaxy S3 :thumb

That's the version I'll go for. Who wants the hassle of booting a PC (or Mac) laptop just to read the odd code.

BTW, AFAIK, Bluetooth is ok when used sensibly though why it needs 10m range is anyone's guess. That said, Apple have made themselves a fantastic market to people who cant be bothered with trivia such as security.

To develop Bluetooth apps for iPhone would cost a crippling amount to pay for using Apples implementation of Bluetooth in order to sell a few hundred or maybe thousand GS911 devices. They would never get their investment back.

A damn shame as everyone has an iPhone nowadays, including me.

I got the fake 911gs for £140 to locate a fault on my 07 gs if I took it to BMW it would have cost £80 +vat just to read the fault code then the cost to fix(small mortgage at dealers) the fault was saying the transponder and sender from the key but I found out it was the battery at fault,
I think it works a treat on my gs but I'm a skin flint and don't believe in giving my money away lightly

I saw an iPhone dyno app for cars...that one had a small intermediary device that was the BT receiver. I'd think that would be the way to go...

Ah, here it is:

Do not buy anything from there web site, Purchased an item believing it was UK or EU based its not all items are being sent from china which would be ok unless the unit arrives not working you are then told to send it back this will cost you £52.84. I would also point out that you have to send it tracked but make note that should the item be stopped by Chinese Customs it will be seized as they do not allow items marked made in china to be imported into china you lose the purchase price plus any postal charges.

Gents, you'll all be pleased to see that the newest GS911 is wifi enabled and able to be used with an iPhone.
Have a look HERE.
BTW, the OP bought his 911 from a company in Ireland, there's a firm in Cornwall that sells them now and probably other official UK outlets too.
