According to my local dealer the F800gs has cut into the sales of the big bikes so badly and it's been dogged by reliability issues to such a degree that they're actually discontinuing the bike at the end of the year. Apparently the new engine configuration made so little difference to the bike performance and simply added to the complications that it's actually putting off new buyers. They're talking about replacing it with a dedicated but stripped down touring machine without the off-road pretensions.
