GS Dry suit - any good?

I've been thinking about getting a second suit, and had an email from Bahnstormer today offering the suit at £575, down from £750. I did once say that I wouldn't consider a BMW suit, but at £575, it's quite tempting. Does anyone here have one, if so are they are any good (warm enough in the winter, cool enough in the summer, and actually waterproof)?

i have the dry jacket. its great for summer but not warm enough for the winter, you will definately need a layer/ electric jacket underneath. when its wet it becomes very heavy however its never let a drop in. its more suited to the off road scene, imho.......... theres better jackets to be had for the money

Thanks. Re the outer layer, is this waterproof, or is there an inner waterproof liner, like on the Rallye 3 suit? I was under the impression that the outer was waterproof, but speaking with my local dealer last week, they said it is the same system as the Rallye.

Just my two penneth worth, as I've been down this road...................

Had the Revit Cheyenne suit with a drop in waterproof liner. Totally waterproof, but the outer layer got completely sodden, weighed a ton and was almost impossible to dry out overnight while touring in the Pyrenees.

Got my hands on a Rukka Armax jacket. This is the 'Pro Shell' with the Gortex laminated to the outer layer, so no drop in liner............. Does not get sodden, keeps me completely dry, and dries out in a few hours.

If I was looking for a jacket, I'd definitely go for 'Pro Shell', and probably the new Revit Poseideon.

the outer layer is not waterproof............ it has a "c change" liner , like the rallye but not removeable. my other half brought the jacket for me and was told by the dealer it was "proshell" it is'nt. i did't have the heart to tell her its not what i wanted.

Ok, that's good enough for me to not bother with the GS Dry. I already have a Rukka suit with waterproof outer, and it hasn't let any water in, so will stick with Rukka in future.

I bought a BMW (not quite so) twat suit (not sure of the designation.. not the full twat suite, but the lesser one) a couple years ago when my Hein Gericke suite shrunk

While certain bits of the BMW suite were better. (more substantial zippers for instance) and some of the 'features' were nice...

I'm quite unhappy with the quality.. pockets pulled away from the stitching in less than a year..it's just not built as well as I think it should be for the money.. (common thread with all BMW stuff these days I think)

GS Dry jacket.......I bought one as did my step Dad both leaked like a sieve, his also suffered poppers falling off and the faux leather collar falling apart during a Euro trip last year, we both took them back and got a full refund.

My wife has the Dry jacket. It's been totally waterproof as tested in Ireland
It was fine in the heat of Death Valley and she has a heated jacket.

It does get a bit heavy when wet but the main problem is that the black dye ran into the yellow panels and no amount of washing will make it come out. The jacket looks very scruffy due to this and I think she will get something different soon. It's a shame because it looks great on her otherwise.

I think she will go down the Klim route like me and wear the Dry for trail riding - expensive jacket for that though

All in all not recommended

I like my GS dry suit - I much prefer it to the previous Rallye 3 suit I had (which I bought new and sold on after only a few months)
Its lighter, more comfortable, waterproof with no zip out liner malarky and I think the cooling is pretty good when the side vents are open on the jacket.

I do only use it for summer though - I have a BMW Tourshell suit I use in the colder/wetter months which is nice and toasty.

I also think the GS dry gloves are excellent
