has anyone on the forum had experience of importing their GS or other bike into Norway?

I've done as much online research as I can, and am well aware of the norwegian customs and excise duty that you have to pay on the bike.

you need to be sitting down when you read this, but it can cost approx £4k in duty to bring a GS into the country. The reason I am going for it, rather than buying a new one, is that to buy a second hand GS over here is more than the combined UK value of my 1150, plus the import tax by about £2k from what I can work out.

I'll be bringing my bike over here very soon - but was just wondering if anyone had any tips or experience on this.

I've even spotted a couple of other norwegian forum members out there too!

A friend of mine lives in Norway, and he says that the road tax on bikes is pretty horrendous. It's power-based (so an 1150 isn't too bad), but I suggest having a spare arm and leg hanging around.

Having said all that, I'm incredibly jealous. Norway is a fantastically beautiful country.
