Hi All

I'm (again!) looking for advice from the forum.

I've recently sold my 1200GSA and bought a 1250GS (I was finding the GSA a bit big and heavy) - loving the new bike, but missing the better wind/weather protection of the GSA. So I'm looking at options to improve wind protection on the GS. I'm assuming that there are 3 possible options:

  • fit a GSA screen (I'm assuming that this is possible, but would be the most expensive option!)
  • fit a screen extension to the GS screen
  • fit a non BMW touring screen
Any views or hard won advice on any of the above options gratefully received.

Thanks in advance - and I hope Santa brings you all you desire and deserve!!

I got a second hand GSA screen for my standard GS, cost me 50 euros, fitted in 2 minutes, just a couple of screws

Keep your eyes open in the for sale section or place a wanted ad, otherwise try eBay etc.

I put a GSA screen on my GS and can't say it made much of a difference - I suspected that was down to the GSA having winglet type deflectors to the side?

I have an MRA vario touring screen on my GSA and it is the best mod I have fitted. Cuts all turbulence and puts the wind right over my head. It also appears to provide the same protection to my arms as the standard GSA screen. With the bikes standard screen adjustment, the addition of the adjustable spoiler means it should work for a wide range of shapes and sizes.

My experience was the opposite. GSA screen on my standard GS felt much better to me (no winglets). Now I’ve put a cheap extender thingy on top of the GSA screen the set up is perfect for me at 5ft 11

Puig for me (and my pal) - visor up riding up to "cough" mph.

Just goes to show how we are all different.

I've tried 4 and keep coming back to the Puig touring.

MRA vario screen on my 1250GS. I'm 6' with shortish legs. The OEM screen caused buffeting on the top of my visor but the MRA stopped it.

Puig for me, works like a charm, bought from Amazon for $130. It was actually a little long so I cut it down just a hair over and inch. Very nice improvement of the stock screen on my Rallye.

I’m 5’ 10” with normal size body/leg combination and can see over the screen, even set to max height. However, I find the screen works best for me in mid height setting. The screen is also a lot more stable than the standard and does not require braces fitted.

Puig Touring with factory fitted airfoil for me, work well but would recommend a strengthening bracket. I use a Cymarc one which works very well......
