Hi guys, some advice I have both seats for my GS12 and the lower seat is a far better fit but not as well padded so do I:-

1. Get airhawk seat pad (could I get it fitted under the cover?)

2. Get the lower seat re upholestered, this way I can get a better shape to the seat.

3. Any other suggestions?

Also if I go the re-upholester route any companies recommended to do such work?

If you go down the re-upholster route, do a search on this forum for Melvin Hunter seats. They work for me.

Mike reading your comments elsewhere it would appear best to have my lower seat re-done. Is you re done seat more horizontal? As I find the stock standard seat pushes you forward the low seat is better but not prefect.

Good question, but I don't think so. The seat is very 'grippy' however, and you stay wherever you put yourself.

FWIW I had my seat Melvyned and fitted with gel insert. When refitting the seat there is a noticeable difference in comfort levels. Also it does not tip you forward as much. However if you turn the seat over and raise the front bar setting on the seat to its high position and lower the rear bar setting to the low setting, it removes the forward incline.

Having done 2000 miles on the seat now, I would recommend the quality of build and finish, also the improved comfort on long hauls. Longest haul in one day was only 230 miles but not all in one go.

Whilst there was some discomfort after that journey it was minimal compared to a 40/50 mile journey on the old seat.

I have also put Nippy Normans risers on and they also add to the comfort zone.
