Its not the bike for me. No matter which view I looked at the bike I could not find it attractive , and as Im not about to cross deserts I think Ill stick to the much lighter std GS.

General comments from others who sat on it two up is the rear seat is a few inches too short, the pillions bums hang off the back. Also the cubby hole is only just big enough for the BMW warranty card, the phone will have to go in a pocket.

Yep.. Similar thoughts..
I've just bought a WC gs in white with wire wheels.. Very happy with it..
Went to show to have a good look though..
But not gonna rush out to part X (yet)

Think I need one in the street or at least a dealers b4 final decision though..

Points...
Cubby hole, tried fitting iphone 5 in.. No way, but good for coins at toll booths..
Bike didn't 'feel' as tall as my last GSA, admitted it was on stand at show but nearly got both my feet down & nearly flat on floor.
There are lights, engine bars top & bottom & pannier racks to name a few extras to my standard WC GS, which I'm wanting anyway so are gonna cost me shortly on top of the price of my bike..
So.. Maybe more for your ££ than first thought..

& that was my 2p worth..

What do you use your cubby hole for ?

Not for an iPhone 5, evidently.

Though that does assume that the bringer of that disappointing piece of news was trying to insert the phone properly. Had he been trying to stand it vertically, I can imagine the problem came with shutting the lid. You can never be too sure.

Trying to put aside and thoughts of jealousy for those who can afford the new GSA I have got to say that now having seen it in the flesh I am not taken with it. Those crash bars are just wronger than a wrong thing that got it wrong.....particularly the upper ones.

Some have said that they are wrong because you could snare a giraffe or some such out on safari...for me they just look crap. Too shiny, wide/ and the wrong colour.

Like other on he stand the svelte Mrs Oldnfat didn't like the pillion, felt cramped and much to the consternation of the BMW staff...there was general agreement on this point from the other two couples who were also looking.

I am sure it will be a fantastic bike and will reserve judgement until I have actually ridden it but have to say...not blown away so far.....oh, and the kind man from BMW suggested my £16.5k for a full spec version would come up short.

Starting to think the £13.7K including all the special offer bits is looking to be a good buy...or is that just the male justification gene kicking in ....again?

A thought...

I wonder why you'd want to keep your phone in the upper deck locker anyway? My pocket seems a much more sensible option, but why be practical I guess?

As for pillion space being cramped, perhaps the cubby hole is designed for 1 week touring rations for the rider and pillion, thereby resolving saddle space issues to 'normative' or at least the size people should be? I've not met too many people doing 'adventures' who are overweight...partly due to a lack of food in far-flung destinations, or the shits from the food they are able to forage. Perhaps, afterall, it's a branding issue and BMW need to rename it the 1200GSO for the expectant (as opposed to 'target') audience? :hide

Saw it like most at the NEC yesterday and have to say was quite taken with it. Yes, it's pig ugly but then aren't all GS's?

Fortunately, BMW seem to change their colours once a year because the launch colours for the new GSA are bloody awful IMHO. White, probably the best of a bad bunch, some matte metallic blue with a hideous blue seat and Panzer green. What the hell were they thinking :nenau

'Its only two pieces of plastic. You could always wrap it or respray it'. After I've spent nigh on sixteen grand  I don't think so. I'll wait 'til next year.

Have to agree the new one does appear shorter than the out going model, and it is mutt ugly in a GS way. Would I buy it I doubt it, the K & RT seem far more appealing even though they'll both cost me a fair few more beer tokens.

Not too keen on BMWs show models this year though...!! Bring back Linda Lusardi...!! lol
