Having successfully changed the tank on my 05 GS for the larger Adventure model, I have a problem with the computer fuel gauge. On filling to the brim, the gauge rarely indicates full and if it does it is down to empty within a few miles. Generally it registers just under the quarter mark but the miles to empty quickly gets to 0 and I now use the trip meters tio gauge fuel left etc.
Is this just the penalty of the change I have made? Would changing the clocks etc for Adventure items affect a solution? Have I damaged something somehow or not replaced it correctly? (level sensor etc or similar)

Isn't a major issue but on a recent tour of the Tarn area of France it was more of an annoyance as the fuel warning light merrily flashes away etc.

Any help/advice appreciated from anyone who has carried the same modification!

Regards
Bob

I assume the sender is for the bigger tank not standard on. Then it may need to be calibrated by dealer. Have had 2 ordinary ones fitted to my 09 GS :rolleyes:and both were calibrated when fitted.

Yes you don't say which sender you used. GS one won't work because the tank is different but it should be reasonable for a good part of the tank. GSA one will have to be calibrated. The other option is that it's a second hand strip and broken like a lot of them are.

Thanks for the replies - I used the original GS into the Adventure tank I purchased with a new "suck" pump on the right plus new rubber seals etc. So I need to find a GSA fuel sender from what you have said. Thanks - will need to look out for one on evilbay or similar.

They are just over £80 from your dealer, to be honest they way they fook up I would be buying new, nothing to say the second hand one you are buying is not fooked already.

Think there may be a problem getting new senders at the moment, lot of posts about short supply due to BM finally doing a proper repair, may be a normal float type conversion.

I just ordered a new one at the weekend no problems at all.
