GSA 1150 abs& servo or not??

Hi Guys,

I'm buying a GS asap, I've a few lined up in my sights to see this week. Now seeing as I am 120 miles from nearest BMW service I reckon buying a 1200 out of warranty and privately with no backup or BMW recovery could be looking for trouble (A dealer bike is out of my budget range here in Ireland). SO it looks like 1150GSA. I need reliability and I also love them. Question is ABS and servo or not??

What do you guys reccomend. Are the abs and servo models reliable or troublesome.

One of the bikes I am looking at is a 1150GSA no abs no servo? What would you guys buy?

Buy either, if the servo one fails, re plumb to a non sero non abs one

Hi If you can go for a fairly recent used 1200, they changed the brakes last year to non servo all round, so that may be your answer.

I think the servo brakes are only an issue if you end up with the residual braking which happens when you start he bike with the brake applied, the engine management can't do all its start up checks so goes straight to residule.

Obviously also as said above, if they break too as you are a little way away from a dealer.

You may be able to get the emergency service cover and warranties added onto your bike as you can certainly extend them, maybe worth giving BMW a call to ask

Would always have ABS myself, just for the safety, but then i have always had it on my bikes since passing my test, so don'y know any different

Any of 'em will be fine.. mine's a non abs/servo 1150 GSA never felt I could have done with ABS on it....Don't let the spec over bother you if you find a good one.....
