Started to get some pulsing through the brakes a few weeks ago, it got steadily worse until I decided to pop it in to my local dealer for a look. Diagnosis? front and rear discs warped:tears

I bought it in October, 57 plate with 4,200 miles on it and it now had just under 14,000, I cannot believe I am going to have to fork out for new discs and pads already what do they make them from chocolate?!!

There had better be some 'goodwill' from BMW or I will unleash hell! :p1zzed:

2 BMW's- 18 months- 12 claims-I just want to ride the bloody thing!!

I got my 07Gs in September last year.I've done 20k, had two rear discs and 4sets of rear pads. Latest disc is slightly warped but since the second oil seal is now weeping the pads do nothing now they got some gear oil on them. Should last a fair bit longer.
Got used to not using the back brake for anything but hill starts, so I guess the fronts will now warp with the extra use.

My '06 started to suffer from "pulsing" brakes. I thought the disks were warped too, but simply replaced the pads and the pulsing has gone!

Cartman, did you buy it from a dealer? Has it got a BMW 12 month warranty?

I had warped discs and pads on both my GS's. The first was a second hand buy with 12k on the clock. At about 15k it was pulsing and NOG replaced front discs and pads under the 12 month warranty that came with the bike.

In the US anyway, warped rotors are often, but not always covered by warranty. In theory they are a wear item and thus not covered by the warranty, but I have had at least two replaced on my 07 GSA under warranty.

......................!!

A very common problem :(

Check out all the threads on here about it and make your own mind up about the best way to tackle it.

FWIW I have

Replaced my '05 with '05 spec WMB discs (warranty) - warped again.

Replaced with cheap pattern discs - warped again.

Replaced with EBC pattern discs - warped again.

Replaced with '09 spec fully floating MWB discs and, 8,000 miles on, fingers crossed, all still ok.

I went back to the BWM discs as much for the reason that my dealer is aware of my problem :augie and will stick to the 2 year warranty on the discs should they warp within that time (no 'wear and tear' bollox) so to me it was well worth the expense to fit OEM on the basis that my dealer will keep (I hope!) replacing them should they keep warping.

My 08 GS has just been in for its second annual service and needed 2 front discs, both warped. Covered by warranty, but after only 8350 miles, not expected, to say the least

Well everything replaced last week at great(!!!) cost, but the bike feels so much better. BMW have graciously decided to pay for the parts, availing me with 2 years warranty on the new discs, still leaves me with a large bill but not an extortionate one.

Vines South London were excellent as usual, had major problems with them in the past, but in the last 12 months they have been brilliant:beerjug:
