GSA crash bar extension

Has anyone fitted the Touratech crash bar extension that covers the lower tank area? I'm about to fit a set of crash bar bags to the existing bars on the front. They also do a set for the side of the tank area but that requires the bar extension set. Any thoughts on quality and transfer of impact damage to the frame?

Hi there I have a set on my bike and deff think they would withstand the same impact as the BMW bars they clamp to very good quality items

Ive got a set on mine, the quality is as good as the originals, the lower engine bars take most of the impact in a fall. The bags are bigger than the ones on the front. They are mounted very securely. I like them.

Gosh they look hideous like kung fu fighting stars hung on the side, hard to see what extra protection they are going to offer

IMO - The reinforcing strut is much more useful.

IMO - The reinforcing strut is much more useful.

I would agree the reinforcing strut is more useful than that extension

I have had the reinforcement struts and they are a waste of time. When I dropped the bike on a roundabout they just popped off as the little bracket holding them on is not up to the job. I now have the upper crash bars but after a few falls in Mongolia and China I discovered they hurt your knees. I will be removing them as I to fail to see it's purpose, you would have to role the bike to see any advantage if any. My decision is also down to the extra weight.

I can't see any plus side for these!

Weight is the enemy, The higher the worse it gets.

Your the target for the sales team. And some items are just profit!!

I just can't see the point. Unless they looked good. They don't!!

On the plus side. There might be some scrap value to them
