GSA demo today

One does wonder if the 2013/14 models are the end of the line of the boxer GS, for the real adventures the 800 seems to tick more boxes and now with the advent of the 1000 which is a natural progression of the 800 which will satisfy the need for speed bunch has the boxer wizzed it's last model ?

25000 sold and counting. Dont think so

how many bought on seeing it at the nec and deposit thrown at the nearest dealer for march delivery, no test ride and £16,000 later would you admit it had faults and may be wasn't as good as the twin cam or its power and torque delivery is turning it into a more sports orientated machine ?
I am testing one next week and the money is there for a te spec bike in september but if it has niggles on the test or I don't like the power delivery the money will be staying in the bank and I will keep my twin cam.

I've tried one now, I'm desperately trying to stay away from the dealers at the moment, gone from GSA Tc To GSWC, but the new one feels very sorted. ( nothing's ever perfect I guess)

Enjoy the test ride..

got money , go and buy new bike.

got no money , just use your old bike and don't complain.

so simples.

Not in Britain, me old china

70% of new BMW bikes are sold on BMW Select PCP finance

Which is very different to the rest of Europe

Britain is a nation of credit lovers

Yep, the banksters make it easy, don't they ?

They're all just pushers selling another product for people hooked on credit and "Must have the latest...... ".

Ironic that BMWs come from a country where the people are among the most finance-conscious in Europe. I know many Germans and they're all very careful with their money and their spending.

However, the newer BMWs are tempting... and so too are the older ones. I would happily buy back my 2004 GSA as well as retain my 2013 GS LC.

..'it being ages since I last posted on this site mainly because 'me 1150 GSA felt sorted and I've been enjoying a Triumph Thruxton 900 for er, other fun, I came on with the express intention of selling the (05) GSA so I could use some of my retirement lump sum to purchase the singing & dancing W/C '14 GSA. I have done the test-ride thing and found it easier to ride in some ways (I could touch the ground with most of my feet), the gear selection was v.good, surpassing a Triumph Explorer's I also had a look at, my wife said that she felt v.comfortable on the pillion and could see better. The speedometer was irritating as the numbers are small. Overall I liked it, but then, as in a previous post I went back to the 1150 and felt v.sentimental and er, loving towards it (!) So, what do I do? (that's a rhetorical question)

It's about delivery, Mr Salesman...Though !

I've had four oilhead 1200's and have ridden 1100's and 1150's and several airheads. I bought my current WC before I was doing the current part-time sales job. I'll have mine delivered with 125 bhp any time, please..... ;)

Strange thing to say

It is not obligatory that it should receive universal acclaim

No bike would receive universal acclaim as there will always be people that don't like it. By surprise I meant that, given a year of the regular GS and probably a great deal of testing, BMW seem to have come up with a bike that polarises opinion even more than previous models, rather than that some people don't think it's great. Are you taking a GSA for a test ride? It'd be interesting to read what you think coming off an 1150.

I will be, sometime in the next couple of months and will post my findings here

I rode the normal 12GS WC last year, but have done with longer on it, thought was ok:thumby:

Not so keen on the looks of the new GSA, at present though

Brand new to the BMW brand here and 2 weeks and 600+ miles later I've got to say I'm really happy with my new GSA. Coming from a 14 year old bandit1200 it's probably not too shocking that I found it a step up in the biking world. Agree with some of the downsides already pointed out (speedo too small, wind blast quite annoying, needs a hugger) but I've got to say even just on running it in and staying below 5000rpm (honest) that I can't fault it for torque or handling or excitement. One of the first things I thought after a 200 mile ride was I could understand why people pick these to tour on, but also how much fun it is to throw around on the twisties. The great really does outweigh the bad on this bike by a loooong way.

Ok, before I get flamed, I've never ridden the GSA as the size of the bike and looks have not appealed to me personally, I've never had the need for a larger fuel tank as 180 miles is more than enough before I take a break BUT I see various posts about lc owners wanting to change over. Just wondering what the main differences are and what I'm missing? Is the ride much different?
