Hi all,

Posted last week in the newbies section, since had some test rides and had pretty much decided on the 07 GSA i test rode. Since i have been reading on here about the problems with the fuel injection relay jobbie (Fuel pump controller.). I was hoping to put this sort of thing behind me for my touring bike, moving away from Ducati for the first time ever. The FI relay on my Multi has gone a few times although it has never actually left me stranded, and at only £3 a pop, i carry a spare. The whole reason for getting shut of the multi was for greater reliability, am i really going to get it with the GS?
Just wanted to know just how endemic the problem was, the bike is from a main dealer so could i demand a later more reliable unit to be fitted? Or are they all just as bad?

Cheers Matt.

If the fuel pump controller doesn't get you something else will. I have had both a GS and GSA and had a whole host of problems. However its maybe that i am currently just in bad moood as my bikes second final drive has expired 2 days into a holiday i have planned for a year:mad:

As I understand it FPR's are being replaced as a recall by BMW. It may be worth getting in touch with Garfield to get his experience of yesterday, his was changed foc and it hadn't failed:comfort

It may be worth looking at 1150's ;)

I have not had my GSA very long, (bought it in May) but I have done a fair few miles on it, went on a tour around France and Switzerland last month, and have been using it for daily duties since I sold my car at the beginning of August. I have only had to put fuel, oil and tyres on. It is like anything, some are good others are Friday afternoon jobs. If you go for it ask about some form of warranty just for peace of mind.

O I'm going to do it But just had a new knee 6 week ago:comfort

18k miles on my 08 GSA so far, no problems :nenau Taking it down to the Gambia in January, carrying a spare EWS and FPC, beyond that the usual stuff, but not overly worried. Anything mechanical can/will go wrong at some point. I wouldn't worry about it, just go out and ride....
