My GS saved the bike in me
I will be forever be grateful to my GS.
I came off my Gixer Thou in Spain on a trip with some mates in the summer of '07. I've come off before, years ago, but this time it really messed with my head for Some reason. Maybe it wasn't helped by one of the others writing his bike off the next day but who knows, either way I really didn't ride much during the next 12 months. I totally lost my mojo, been riding for over 20 years and felt like a complete flid. It seemed every time I was getting my confidence back I would see a bit of gravel in a corner and I would be back to square one. Anyway, bought an '04 1200 from a chap returning to OZ (cheers for helping on that Pinky Tiff) and it has really sorted my head out (nice hight position, trusting the tyres again etc). Dunno what was the mental block but either way I now enjoy all my bikes again and feel like I owe the GS a big favour.
So to me, you want one, you get one, you don't, get something else. Don't slag 'em if they are not your cup of tea, go look some where else. Or, buy one with a view to living with it for a bit and if it don't float your boat then get rid. If you think it's a lot of money, because yes 11K+ is a lot of money, then bloody well buy something cheaper, it's what I did.
Cheers guys.
Spence.
