Can anyone tell me based hopefully on experience if the GSA seat is more comfortable than the GS? I believe the seat shape is different, seems to be flatter and possibly cut narrower to aid us vertically challenged ones. I am referring to the two piece seat on the GSA, I have a 2006 GS so was wondering if this would be a good option? Anybody have one they would like to sell or loan for a trial to me?

GSA: hard

GS: soft

I prefer the GSA, but cannot stay on it for more than 2 hrs. Thats entirely not the reason I don't own a GSa though....

Position, Position, Position .............

Both seats are really uncomfortable on a long ride ....... the magic trick is to put the front of the seat up to its "high" setting ( leave the rear one alone ) and like magic, you can ride them all day - dont ask me how that works, but this is a hell of improvement

GS seat is more comfy than the GSA having just changed bikes. I may swap the seats back if I can.

Brian,

I have a standard 1200GSA seat you can try if you like. You can borrow it for a month or so, as I do not need it.

You are in Royston, I'm in London, so not a million miles apart.

PM me.

Richard

PS I hear good reports of people sorting out their suspension, making the bike more comfortable, then sticking with the original seat. MCT in Stowmarket are worth a call. :thumb2

GSA seat to soft, GS seat to hard and like a plank, sargent seat just right, incidentally I have a brand new set of 09 gsa seats for sale from a matt metallic bike.

Both the GS and GSA seats hurt my delicate little botty after a couple of hours in the saddle.

Now have a Sargent and can ride all day :)

Hi, I have an 07 GSA seat that you can borrow for a trial to make your own mind up :thumb2 And if you find it to your liking it can be purchased as its just sitting around doing nothing :Motomartin As brought a Sargent seat a year or so ago and have not looked back :JB, well my arse has not any way :D

Cheers Chris

I guess the GSA seat increases the overall seat height compared to the standard one ? Does anyone know by how much ?

Useful comments chaps, thank you. I can't adjust the front of the seat up as I use a "low" seat which does not have the adjusting bars underneath. This may be part of my problem as the low seat seems a totally different shape of course.
Thanks Richard I will get in touch regarding borrowing your seat as London is just down the road and a good excuse for a run out. Haven't been to Tubby Isaac's for years or is the old Salt Beef Bar still there on Commercial Road.

Morning Brian,

Tubby Isaacs is still in Aldgate (between the two tube stations) but Bloom's (the salt beef place) closed years ago - still have a branch in Golders Green as far as I know?

Hell's bell's..Golders Green that's a bit up market for a Bow boy like me to travel to! I can just imagine taking my two kids (25 & 22) into either of the above mentioned places. Now Pie and Mash down the Roman is what its all about!

At long last, I now have a GSA to keep my old airhead company.

Great bike but (sounds like I'm mot alone either), I find the seat is not as good as expected on a bike having such a mile-eating reputation.

For me it seems that the seat slopes forward too much and gives the impression of being pushed towards the tank.

I think 'Nuffsaid hit the nail on the head with the suggestion of raising the front height setting and it is something I looked at - only trouble is, it leaves a big gap between the seat and tank.

Guess a Sargent would be the best option but I believe they cost a fortune???
