I've come from the Austrian stable to something that's a bit more of a mule and more distance friendly. One thing I miss is the white powers on the ATM.

Im not looking for a motocrosser, but would like something more progressive to help with the bottoming out.

Would you suggest looking at GSA shocks or simply change the springs on the stock 1150's? ( I dont really want to go full ohlins )

I've just has a Hyperpro spring fitted to my rear shock,

Can't comment on how good it is yet though as it's still in the box waiting while I rebuild the bike.

Will be fitting one to the front also when I get to it.

For the price I thought they were worth a go (having the shocks serviced at the same time)

I fitted hyper pro shocks to my old 1150 and now have a GSA. The hyper pro are definately firmer, standard GSA shocks are a magic carpet ride, but not as accurate at turn in. Having said that, I'm loving how smooth the GSA is over the rough stuff so it's a compromise whichever way you go. If you are off roading, the hyper pro help a little with bottoming out, but the bike scrapes it's underbelly too early. The GSA shocks will give you more clearance, but would benefit from hyper pro springs also.

So ideally, GSA shocks with Hyperpro (or progressive springs ?)

thats what im doing, i have gsa shocks, the front has been rebuilt with a hyperpro spring, the rear will be done soon aswell

For off road yep, but you need to lengthen the centre stand. Drive shaft is different too, but only a problem if you are powering off jumps (not really GS territory).

I've fitted a 21"front wheel and a Wilbers shock on the rear of my 1150GSA. Much more capable in the rough stuff now and not as soft & spongy as the OEM GSA shock. A HUGE difference in all-round handling too...
