Hi everyone
sill thinking of a gs ,just wanted to ask as to the performance difference between the two models and are there any engine differences between the two ,the bikes I am looking at are the 08-09 or maybe a 2010-2011 variants . any info would be very much appriciated .

Does the GSA of that vintage have a lower first gear ? or was it an option

The enduro gear box was an option on the 2010-11 bikes. I would definitely recommend the GSA if you're not fazed by the weight. They're very easy to ride and very agile once you get used to them. I'm selling by 2011 GSA with 23.5k miles. I'm based in Somerset and have just bought a new GSA )

I think the optional enduro gearbox became available with the 2008 model update.

2010 gsa

going to have a look at a 2010 gsa , spoke to the dealer and he was not sure if it was a twin cam or the single as he is not a bmw dealer .as to differences what are the outward signs between the two . also how do the gsa models vary from the standard gs in engine performance vibration etc both in twin cam and single cam variants .

4 bolts to cylinder head casing for none twin cam 2 to the casing for twin cam..... I have ridden both if you can afford it go for the twin cam, if not you will fall in love with whatever you have bought. It took me two thousand miles before I decided that I had not made a massive mistake but now it's just a joy

Having ridden them back-to-back, if you prefer a sportier ride go for the GS. It's got firmer suspension, a lower centre of gravity and less weight, so is more fun in the twisties.

The TC engine is a worthwhile upgrade if you can afford it as I found the gear change better and its roll-on acceleration feels better, although top end power is basically the same.

There is no difference in the motor for a same year gs and GSA, the power, smootheness and such are the same. The enduro transmission is an option on the 08 and up bikes. Both bikes ride the same if you adjust the suspension correctly. The GSA will give you better weather protection with the larger tank and better range. I get 300 miles or about 4 hours of riding on my GSA tank. The difference in horsepower between the two years 08-09 and the 10-11 is 5 horsepower. 10 was the introduction of the dual overhead cams.

Dead simple. If the oil filler cap is on the nearside (i.e. side stand side) then it's a single cam. If it's on the other side, then it's a twin cam.
