So I rode the bike down to another members house to get a oe tool kit oh the irony my bike would'nt start:(
had it recovered to home.
Ive had a play today and it seems the fuel pump is not working as I cant hear it priming after switching the ignition on
after reading loads of posts should I try putting 12 v straight into the block connector under the right hand side pannel
green + brown-? if not can you direct feed the pump with the tank still on?
Ive switched the horn relay and fuel pump relay no joy
had the plugs out and have a spark
any ideas
Cheers

Sounds minor.

Check the next to the tank rhs electrics connector, sometimes the female connectors splay causing loss of contact.
Wiring to ignition loom tight on headstock? Means that the ignition wires may have frayed, turn handlebars to see if the pump comes on.
Side stand switch can fail.
I know you mentioned swapping relays, however try the pump relay in the horn position and see if the horn works if it does the problem is elsewhere as this proves the relays fine.

Replacing fuel pumps is not too hard, do a search to find much cheaper car alternatives, been there done that and it works.

Thanks horn works with the relays switched
will the engine still spin over if the stand switch is faulty?
messed about with connector block looks ok will have to check continuity
waggling bars has no effect cables seem quite loose around the headstock
I also forgot to mention it still has the original bmw alarm fitted.

Feed 12v direct to your fuel pump at the tank connector. If the pump runs then it could be your alarm has immobilised your fuel pump.

If the pump doesn't run then your fuel pump is likely to be toast!

I was immobilised by a shoddily removed immobiliser that malfunctioned on me but if you have spark at the plugs it's probably not that I wouldn't have thought.

Where is the best place to get a fuel pump

The pump is kaput:thumb
Cheers for the advice, tank is currently having its nuts soaked with freeway:D
need to find a good reasonably priced replacement any ideas + filter should I get a new o ring?

Here you go read this thread.

New filter is up to you and how long it's been fitted. Would make sense to change it as you will be working inside the tank.

You can usually reuse the o-ring if it's in good condition. You just need to stick it somewhere warm to dry out, so it shrinks back to it's normal size.

Make a note of where the flat is on the pump plate so that you get the orientation correct when refitting.

Go easy on the nuts if you use anything other than a screwdriver socket and hand tight, you will likely shear the studs.

Good luck

I made sure i got a spare pump by saving a search for one on fleabay. With yours kaput, you need to find one now, but save a search anyway if you're planning on sticking with the bike. I've been with the 1150's since 2000 and have no intention of changing, so my spares hoard will come in useful at some point. I've not gone mad with parts, i just have a couple that i know will go wrong at some point, and it's usually at the point you don't have one on the shelf. Oh, and don't muck about with the o ring, just bang a new one on, the old one will probably work, but if it doesn't you'll only have to go through the rigmarole of draining the tank to replace it anyway. :thumb2:)

Must be something in the air. Had to have my 1150 recovered yesterday after it cut out mid ride. A few checks with a multi meter at home suggests my fuel pump is also dead.

Following advice on here I've ordered this pattern part for an Audi 80 : http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/441440251/p/home

I'll let you know how (or if) it fits.

I got the pump from gsf and it fits they also do a filter that fits its all re assembled now but the fuel gauge is kaput:blast

Revisit your tank connector. You might have corrosion on the pins and sockets which is likely to effect the fuel gauge.

Sometimes making and breaking the connection a few times is enough to clear any corrosion and give good conduction.

On the other hand you may have damaged the fuel level sender.
