Yep obviously not much news so a battle of the GSA v 990KTM in the MCN today .They seem to like the GSA though struggled to get on as the journo was only 4ft 6 tall:augie . Looked like a nice blast into the Welsh hills ,both bikes lapped it up ,the usual "well the KTM is lighter and more fun" But the BMW will go on forever and is more comfortable. There saved you £1.90 :D

I don't understand why they always use the GSA, when the GS would be a lighter/sportier comparison.

I suppose that's because they're comparing the KTM Adventure with the GS Adventure. You don't expect bike journalists to actually think harder than that, do you ?

maybe because they are testing duel sports bikes ,maybe put the plain GS against the super duke road bike see how sporty it is then!

But the BMW will go on forever

Unstoppable

:jes

But then you have a big advertising budget which I fell for :blast and then you get a proper off road bike:cool:

Then again not many 12's go off road bm should have kept there off-road dept in charge of the 1150 dept and made a better bike instead of going down the road biased 1200 route:thumb2

Should we split the 1200 section into 2
1200 part 1 road riders
1200 part 2 off road:D

It does seem that the normal GS would have been a much better comparison. I tried the KTM before buying my first GS, and agree with their comments about the brakes. They were bad enough that I was uncomfortable riding it in London; it reminded me of being back on a bike with drums front and back.

Feck you should try my H1A:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Yeah I always have problems with the brakes on my 950 Adv:augie

Futures Bright :D

Because the editor has a GSA on long term test! You'll notice that the report says to make the test fair they didn't have the panniers on the GSA but in several photos it has them fitted and the report goes on to say that for high speed cruising the engine needs more power (with panniers full to the brim, top box, full tank of fuel and pillion) not really a like for like compariosn IMHO!

1200GS vs 990A would have been a much better comparison.
