Gser (Beacon) down but ok.

Hi Dazzer

He mending nicely - thanks. He can get around ok but is in a lot of pain still - particularly to his right wrist and left shoulder.

They've written his bike-off and we're going out to take off the extra he'd fitted - autocom, zumo mount, remus etc today.

Dads even started to think about his next bike aswell which is a positive sign.

He was on Look North last night representing the Yorkshire Air Ambulance as their 2000th customer.

What were they saying on the radio? I phoned the Craven Herald to ask if they'd run a story on diesel spills in that area as we found out that there were another three bike crashes in the area over the weekend with at leat one of them on diesel in addition to my Dads.

Hi Stoney

I was a bit disapointed with the report on the radio.
They had a Police Officer talking about Born again Biker's riding bikes that were very fast, and most crashes in the Yorkshire Dale's were down to rider error.

So yet again..the biker is a fault :spitfire
Why not say somthing about the T- - T's that over fill thier Diesel Tank's and then chuck it all over the road.

I saw a Woman in Barnoldswick 2 weeks ago leaving the filling station, with out her Tank cap on and as she turned out the filling station diesel spiled all over the forcort and road,I stopped her and pointed out the problem ,then she said ...so F- - king what

The filling station was not much better as I pointed out to the chap inside..you would have thought that I had asked him to mop it up with 20 pound notes if you would have seen his face. :nenau after 5 minutes he did put some sand down

I know only to well what happen's if you hit a patch of Diesel .
This one was my down fall this April in Morocco

Gutted to hear about your father ( Beacon ) and I wish him a speedy recovery

The lads in the air ambulance are top notch and were superb when they gave me a "lift" last year for a 5 day holiday at Middlesborough Hospital!!!!

Get well soon Beacon

Regards

Howie

Thank god you're ok(ish) Beacon, that looks like it could have been a whole lot worse

Take it easy and get well soon :thumb2

Sorry to hear about yer Dad Stoney...

When you're out on rural roads it's not always diesel you come across. I nearly came a cropper from an hydraulic oil spill from a tractor....... when everything starts to wobble it really s**ts you up. I tore a strip off the farmer but I'm not sure he was that bothered...******!

Hope you're feeling better Beacon and back out soon.

Cheers for all the well wishes, much appreciated - good to hear from you Howie! - it's been a long time - certainly seems like in anyway. How are you doing? Are you starting to think about bikes again now or just browsing?

Just a quick update. They've discovered that Dad has a broken neck (C7), which is stable now so he's at home with his neck in brace for as long as it takes. We trust its heals as planned and he doesn't need an operation.

Anyway - Dad's giving biking up as a result so watch the For Sale and Wanted for loads of goodies.

get well soon beacon . how do these diesel spills happen ? ive been a trucker for 25 years and the answer as to be plaine and simply drivers forget to put fuel cap back on , modern day trucks could not loose diesel any other way , that is why you usually see spills on roundabouts and corners . as for an answer on how to stop them im afraid i carnt think of one .

not meaning to piss anyone off but looking at the arriva buses in Yorkshire maybe some of them need to be told about derv spills

I stopped a driver in a tnt unit the other day as he had derv spilling over the road (lucky i was in the works van skidding all over the place)
I said that stuff kills bikers you know his reply well I did not leave fuel cap of
:blast

I asked if he did his checks before driving of :( twat

p.s get well soon Beacon I think I did a ride with you a few years ago going to the peaks sorry to hear you are giving up biking

Hope your Dad gets well soon Stoney.

Diesel spill is the only thing that scares me on the bike:eek:, especially since I nearly lost my wife and three of my children ten years ago because of a large diesel spill on a road here in Ireland. My wife skidded off the road and plunged twenty feet and landed upside down in a small river. Only for the quick action of other motorists they would have drowned. There was a half kilometre of road awash with diesel. The culprit was never found:nono

Regards.

Beacon

Hope the recovery is coming on Well.

Alte Wolf and I have just returned from a short run to Scotland and we were both stunned to see the amount of Diesel on the roads. The worst we saw was today from Just outside Balloch as you approach from Drymen the spill lasted for at least 4-5miles out through the town on to the A82 dual carraigeway and finishing near the outskirts of Glasgow,it was so heavy that the driver must have known.
