I haven't god rid of my trusty R1150GS but got a very low mileage anniversary R1 just before Christmas. I decided to take
it to Scotland for a few days the week after easter with a few friends.
Did the usual scoot up to Gourock and took the ferry to Hunters Quay.
Met Quite a few bikes on the ferry including a load of ex Honda MAC instructors in the company of Bob McMillan ex of Honda
UK
Stopped for lunch at this wee place on the Shores of Loch Eck for some grub highly recomended!
No more pics on our way up to Dornie. Wet roads from the Invergarry turn off on the way
Up the next day and luggage off the bike for the obligatory run up to Applecross.
HArdly a ripple on Loch Carron
Had a wee scoot over the hill and out to Toscaig before returning to Applecross for a cuppa and heading toward Sheildaig
Took a photo of Monty Halls place
Went through Torridon and up the side of loch Marie (great on a sports bike) and via Gairloch then onto Ullapool
Got challenged by a ten year old to a how far can you throw a stone competition....he beat me!
No stops for photos but had a great run up to Scourie down the side of Loch Shin to Lairg then via Dingwall and
Strathpeffer Back to lochcarron and Plockton for a wee sit down!
The west coast was wet on Sunday morning so wee headed east Back up towards the Dornoch Firth again were the weather was
Dryer
From there it was a damp run up to Altnaharra, Tongue Eribol and Durness before heading back down to Dornie.
Very wet ride home on MOnday from Dornie to Dunoon!
Brightened up on the Ayreshire Coast though.
1300 miles door to door in four days. The R1 wasn't as comfy as the GS but was pretty good just less practical as regards carrying loads of stuff.
Top fun though!
