Just dropped my 1150 off at Andrew Sexton’s after I managed to completely bugger up changing the hall sensor yesterday. I’ve used Andrew quite a few times in the past and whilst he undoubtedly does an excellent job, I have been a little shocked at the bill on previous occasions.

I pick up the bike tomorrow or Wednesday and don’t get to find out the cost (or any clue) until its ready:rolleyes:

Scope of work:

  • Sort the timing out (I managed to lose TDC when I attempted the starter motor and spanner on pulley trick)
  • Sort out the alternator which for some reason will not adjust on the ratchet bolt
  • Adjust valves
  • Balance throttle bodies

What’s the damage going to be then:augie

I'll open with £400. More if parts are required.

Was there a reason that you couldn't just rotate it back to TDC after you'd undone the pulley bolt?

I wasn’t sure how to fix it. I probably should have posted here but when added to an alternator bolt that wouldn’t adjust, some shoddy tools, working outside in the dark and my lack of mechanical ability I decided to give up and get it done by someone who knows that they are doing!

Some people are always finding fault with Dave's great ideas

He could push it.
Not that far from Essex to Steptoe towers is it?

He borrowed my trailer this morning to get it to Andrew Sexton:D

True and your lovely wife made me a cup of coffee too:augie Thanks bud:thumb

Once the bike is running - it'll be down to see Mr Steptoe - if he'll let me visit:)

£200 all in – mainly due to the fact that I had managed to completely mangle the alternator ratchet bolt! Bike running better than ever too – overall a happy man:thumb

Hi DrAlf,
£200 is £200 less than I quoted. Can I have my change in £20's please?

:P
