Having purchased this bike on 31st jan this year I've had a few short runs out on it, mainly due to a painfully slow recovery from a rather severe bi-lateral pulmonary embolism. Anyhow I am recovering and decided to take the Stelvio up to Moffat rather than go on the V85.
I met Brian (shez 1) at a local cafe in East Yorks and he led us up on a fabulous 6 1/2 hour route upto Moffat, thanks again Brian. We touched the A1 for about 10mins and the A66 for about 10mins the rest was all on minor roads.
Although I was totally knackered on arrival (but very happy) it did remind me what a fabulous bike the 1200 Stelvio is, a 1200 Stelvio was my first ever Guzzi.
It is a supremely comfortable bike and whilst being a big and heavy old girl she picks up her skirts nicely when encouraged, not the most nimble but far from clumsy.
On the way home I came the fastest route M74, A66, A1M and it really was very much at home on the Motorways, bumbles along at 80 effortlessly .
Anyone looking for a classic adventure bike could do a lot worse than the 1200 Stelvio. No, mines not for sale, well, not yet anyway.
I called in at Teasdales Thirsk on the way home to have a look at their new showroom. It looks fabulous.
