Tank nearly empty, dry, a day of work.....time to fit the y-piece I bought a year ago and the H&B bars. .....

Y-piece first. Start by reviewing the collected wisdom from this site, and off we go. Silencer of, cat off (aided by a rubber mallet), lamda probe out and refitted in y-piece. Then the problems, try fitting the y-piece - after about half an hour of struggling it becomes obvious that it will not go on. Closer inspection shows that the two inlet pipes are about a centimeter out of true, and so will not fit on the headers. Gave in, refitted the Cat! I can't remember where the Y-piece came from (somewhere on this site) and so can not complain to the seller!

Any one want to buy a Y-piece (you may have better luck fitting it than me).

On to the bars. Tank off (having spent time getting tubing clips and bungs for the feul lines I was amased to see they were fitted with the quick release couplings - I'm sure they were not standard on GS's until after mine was made (bought March 2002 and so made late 2001/early 2002)). Sat on garage floor with a copy of Simon's excellent instructions, trolley juack to support rear subframe. Left hand side - 15 minutes, right hand side half an hour. All holes lines up a treat.

Bike now covered in greasy hand marks. Off to the lakes tomorrow (Foxfield - to stay at The Prince of Wales pub which also houses a brewery). Looks like good weather. Shame about the Y-piece!

Eeee, I were there only t'other day. Enjoy! A trip up to The Crown at Hesket Newmarket (another brew pub) is well worth it as well, as is the Drunken Duck somewhere near Sawrey, and the Wasdale Head Inn.

I know the Old Crown (and the Hesket Newmarket brewery) very well - my wife and I each have a share in each of them (so hope to get a 144 piont dividend between us this year!). BUT Denton House full and fancied to try out the southern end. Probabaly have lunch at either The Watermill (Ings) or the Drunken Duck on Friday. Not been to the Wasdale Head in for ages - it is either a bloody long drive or go via Wrynose and Hardnot? passes - fine until some bloody car gets it wrong, GS is a bit heavy two up to manouver on those two.

is the Y piece a Remus - unusual that it will not fit - what year is your 1150?

Not remus. I think it is made by Andy? who advertised on this site - but not bought from him, bought from someone who bought it from him, polished it and did not fit it. Although it is only slightly out, I'm bu££ard if I can bend stainless tube.

Hi Carl,2 things, how much are you looking for the y piece and does it have a connection for the lamba sensor?

It was me.....

Carl

I think that it was me that sold it to you.......:o

Change of plan meant that I sold it and never fitted it. UR correct in saying its polished, I spent ages polishing that darn thing as well?

It was also an Andy Y-piece not a Remus.

Not to sure what to say............ :o :o :o :o :o

From Foxfield, going via Hardknott and Wrynose is the long way. From the A595 cut across through Ulpha over Birker Fell, through Eskdale Green and Stanton Bridge. Only 20 miles, and brilliant, if less challenging roads. And the views along Wast Water are stunning, as you know.

PS. How ever many shareholders of HN are there? I know at least three.

Good point about the route - I have only headed in that direction from Langdale, so I may well try getting there from Foxfield. I think we at about 80 or 90 brewery shareholders (dividend each year in cash or beer - bit of a no brainer - last year was 72 pints or £50). Must be about 110/120 shareholders for the pub, many the same as the brewery.

It looks like a warm dry weekend - a thing a good runon Saturday and back on Sunday via the Dales.
