Took my bike in for the fuel gauge to be fixed and they gave me one of these as a courtesy bike.

Awesome bike, mind blowingly fast, yet very composed. The chasis was excellent and was so easy to flick about. I have to say though that even though it has oodles of HP it didnt feel as bonkers or brutal as my K6 gixxer. I'm sure on track it'd beat the gixxer comfortably, but it didnt give me that sensation of shear terror/adrenalin that my gixxer gave me.

After half an hour I realized why I gave up sportsbikes. At 6'4" they're just too small and uncomfortable unfortunately. After an hour I felt like I'd done 24 hours non stop. Still, great experience and glad I got the chance to ride one.

What I've found strange is that over the past few weeks I've had the K1300S and S1000RR as courtesy bikes and just jumped straight on them and felt right at home, but then when I've got back on the GSA it's felt completely alien and took a good 20-30 mins to get used to again. The riding position felt odd and the bike somehow felt like an old relic. I find it odd that I adapt straight away to a bike Ive never ridden, and then struggle to afapt back to my own bike  And after getting off the S1000RR the GSA felt like riding a north sea ferry so to speak.

However, once familiar with the GSA again I wouldn't swap it for anything :thumb2

Good post, I think my fuel gauge might be broken........ Must pop down to BMW.....

May be due to years of riding sportsbike :nenau

I have spent 25 years on "normal" bikes and reckon if I got back on a sportsbike I would adapt very quickly.

How much did the courtesy bike cost for the day?

Agree, re relic, had a 1300s for almost a full day last week and rode it like I'd never been away, got back on the GSA and it felt like, well not my bike any more :nenau and the engine felt completly gutless

Oh well never mind, roll on my Mk2 Busa :D:D:D:D:D

Best regards Stretch :)

Hi Rasher, mine didn't cost anything, from those nice people at Southport Superbikes :)

Best regards Stretch :D

You probably had it in 'Rain Mode':augie:D

My mate's gixxer K6 feels quite flat in comparison. especially when i have my S1RR in 'Slick Mode':D

Still, it is small and cramped and totally OTT for normal road use.
Thats probably why i've only done 2k miles on it, as opposed to 12k miles on my GSA this year.

Buy it and then you'll have the best of both worlds :thumb2

You did need to do big miles to appreciate it - I just sometimes wheel mine out and look at it and then put it away again :blast

Not a penny :D Although there's a £500 excess if you chuck it down the road.

Did this before, had the Gixxer and the Tiger 1050. Got to the point where the pain outweighed the fun on the Gixxer hence me getting rid of it. Was a very sad day though and do miss it :( But I have the GSA to cheer me up :thumb2

Is it the 1000?

Yep, it was a thou.:thumb

If you get a chance to ride another S1RR, ask them to install the 'Slick Mode' plug/chip. However, i doubt a dealer will enable this option, as its only intended for track use (with slick tyres).
But its totally bonkers and just wants to wheelie everywhere in the first four gears.:thumb

Yip - you sure cant beat a bit of Slick at the weekends

I didn't realise there was such a setting  I guess it's pretty dangerous on the roads though?

If said plug isnt installed then when you scroll through the settings you will only see the std 3. I installed mine immediately but took about a month before i had the guts to ride with it on. :D

Performance is quite animated to say the least :eek

Stop talking about it, I don't need one and must not be tempted.......:blast

Someone tell me it's rubbish, quick!!
:D

Can understand all the comments made above, Borrowed the S1000 from SS, and when I got back on my 1200 afterwards, nearly put my foot through the top of the rear spokes when I was looking for the footpegs ! An amazing machine though. However, I've solved the sports bike 'urge, by impulse-buying a mint ZX9 that gets blasted for a 20 mile sprint every now and again to get it out of my system - £3k and for my (limited) ability on these things, does what the S1000 did, and I still have the 1200 for proper ride-outs ! (Cost less than a new 1200 would depreciate by in 1st 12 months)

I had one of the last versions of the ZX9R (F2P) what a fantastic machine :)
