BMW R1150 GS Adventure registration LB04 YZS

Stolen between 7.15 pm and 9.00 pm from motorcycle parking bay on Addison Avenue, junction with Holland Park Avenue, London W11.

It had steering lock and a large cable lock around the back wheel, pannier frames and seat.

Must have been lifted by Geoff Capes and his several twins...

Had a Touratech top case at the time.
Also a 2 week old Sargent seat.

If you see anything on eBay (and I'll be looking), please beware!

The shop adjacent has CCTV so may get a van registration but the police are doubtful.

So I'm in the market for a replacement - I'd only had it since last September ......

Bastards! Commiserations, hope you get sorted soon.

Securing it to itself is, as you observe, not going to stop anyone lifting a bike. The feckers will (and do) have it away in minutes, irrespective of the time of day and (in this case) the likely busyness of the street. They really don't care.

That the bike is replaceable is scant comfort but at least it is. Probably that's the way to view it. Annoying and upsetting none the less, not least the buggeration factor involved.

ideally those parking bays should have a load of ground anchors....
thanks for your comments guys.

Not good news at any time no matter what bike or how. Hope you get it all sorted & the police find some sort of evidence :)

I know it’s no consolation but if they want it they will take it… my last bike was locked to a ground anchor and had a disc lock in a secure car park with CCTV – the thieves must have known that’s where I parked as they came in to the car park at work during the day, three men jumped out of a white van with a disc cutter to cut the lock off and loaded the bike up and then drove off – all in all about 30 seconds work, captured on low frame rate CCTV – I still have the film clip. Never caught and my insurance went up due to the theft – real PITA, so you have my coimiserations.

Stolen

Thieving tw..s
Hope you get it back undamaged
Boils my piss they all want there hands crushing in a engineers VICE
Because that's the only way to stop them :rob

just had an email from the police saying they're not going to do anything about it. Just gave me a crime number and let me make a claim.
What a country we live in......
They don't even care that the shop adjacent to where the bike was parked has CCTV.

Even if caught the punishment is minimal,we should be a little more like the Saudis and chop the thieving fookers hands off.

You could try the shop yourself, be quick in case the reuse the video tape/memory card

I think they should be made to eat the proceeds of their crime. And then chop their fecking hands off!

Sh*T. Must have been targeted I'm guessing. Do you park it there regularly? I reckon you could just die on the pavement in London nowadays and everyone would just walk by staring at their phones. Not long before the eyes will be wired directly I think. As for the police...

I assume from the reg that it is a 10 year old bike. No disrespect meant but If they are targeting bikes why not go for higher value newer ones?

Stole to order no doubt

Bmw parts are expensive for new or old machines

Sorry to hear your bike has been taken, hope the next one brings you a smile or 3

So what is the best way to secure a bike with a chain and ground anchor? Presumably if you attach it around the wheel it's relatively easy to undo the wheel and take the rest of the bike?

Sorry for you loss.

It don't matter what you do if pros want it that are gonna take it. With pneumatic and rechargeable tools, liquid nitrogen, shielded vans you don't stand a chance, that's why I do not declare any other security other than factory fitted on my insurance cos if it ain't on they will not pay, a mate of mine had his stolen from a ground anchor and the insurance company wanted a copy of the installation Certificate as they said it was not fitted correctly, be warned.

I feel for the pain in the lose of your bike as I had mine stolen last makes feel sick,

Yer what were they thinking!!!! My bike is even older and I find myself embarrassed to admit it.... Obviously if any one felt it good enough to steel then that would make me feel better...
