looks like my hall sensors fecked,i,m looking at having a go myself at fitting a new one so would it be ok to release bottom pulley bolt only without disturbing the tension bolts?that way i would,nt have to piss about with tensioning the belt.i,m only asking cause my torque wrench does,nt go as low has 8nm.also i,ve been offered a supposedly good sensor for £55 quid do i go with it or cough up the dollars for a new one?i know,i know what a tight bas**** but times are hard;)

when I fit a new belt, first i twist the old belt, it usually twists about 90 degrees, I then set the new one to do the same, I aint ever used a torque wrench on it, I figured as the old one worked ok, the new one would work tensioned the same :blast

Feck me, peeps will be using a torque wrench to fit sparkplugs next :D

How difficult is it loosening three bolts, then levering the alternator and redoing up the same three bolts, do you really need to use a torque wrench to know when the bolts are tight enough to hold the alternator in place :augie ? - You do know that the sensor wheel is also behind the pulley.

Have fun getting the pully back on if you decide to do as you've suggested..

Didn't use a torque wrench for mine when I changed my sensor . Only tricky ish bit was making sure the lower pulley didn't move when tightening up the bolt again. I used a screwdriver to hold the flywheel ring gear to make sure nothing rotated and it worked for me.
