Dinged the front rim on my 640 yesterday. What do you think? Bash it back or replace?

640 rims

Mark,

Hope you enjoyed the Cambrian!

I've just replaced the front rim on my 640. It was not as badly bent in one place as yours but had about 4 flat-spots where it had been well bashed. Looked like a 20 pence piece once I got the tyre off it!

The 640 Adventure (not the 640 Enduro) have very soft rims, a problem shared by the 950/990's I believe. They are also an odd size, much wider than a standard dirt front rim and have no hole drilled for rim-locks.

Swop it for a decent quality 'dirt' rim such as an Excel. If you just bash it straight you will be doing it after every ride and it will just get weaker.

Hope to meet up soon.

Cheers, Rick.
